Thomas Detry will be making his debut at the Masters this week. Detry's 2025 season has been up and down thus far. He did win this year at the WM Phoenix Open, but he has finished outside the top 40 six times, including missed cuts in two signature events (The Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS). He has played well off the tee this year with 0.296 strokes gained off the tee per round and 0.207 strokes gained tee-to-green per round, which is crucial at Augusta National. His putting has also been stellar with 0.394 strokes gained putting per round, which is ranked 33rd on tour. The problem lies in his poor play around the green (-0.038 strokes gained around the green per round) and inexperience at ANGC. Although he has a low price tag, use caution this week in DFS.

Since winning the WM Phoenix Open, Thomas Detry has posted results of 53rd place and two consecutive missed cuts. He now looks to rebound at the Valspar Championship, an event he has participated in only once, finishing T17 in 2024. To succeed at Copperhead, players will need to be precise from tee to green and sharp with their short game. Detry ranks 93rd in strokes gained from tee to green (0.065 per round), 136th on approach (minus-0.293 per round), and 115th around the green (minus-0.073 per round). Where he can make up strokes is on the green, where he ranks 29th in putting, gaining 0.479 per round. He is also ranked in the 58th percentile for proximity from 150-200 yards over the past 12 months, a range that accounted for 37% of all approach shots here last year. Given his recent form, fantasy managers may want to lean away from Detry at his $7,700 price tag on DraftKings.

Since his win at the WM Phoenix Open, Thomas Detry has not had his best form. The incredible putting and iron play he used to win in the desert seems to have soured, as he has lost a combined -9.68 strokes between putting and approach play over his last two starts. The only thing he has been able to hang his hat on has been strokes gained off the tee, ranking 16th on the season (+0.542). However, that alone won't get the job done at TPC Sawgrass. Detry could be a worthwhile pick this week, depending on what player shows up to play. But, even at $9,000 on FanDuel, the perceived floor makes him hard to recommend.

Coming off his first PGA career win at the Phoenix Open, Thomas Detry followed it up with a 53rd-place finish at the Genesis Invitational last month. He now returns to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, an event he has participated in just once, finishing T24 in 2023. To succeed at Bay Hill, which measures 7,460 yards, players will need to execute well off the tee and be sharp with long irons. Detry is ranked 99th in total driving and 137th in strokes gained on approach, where he has lost 0.256 strokes per round. He is also ranked in the 52nd percentile in proximity from 150-200 yards, a distance that accounts for 35.5% of all approach shots at this course. Where Detry can make up strokes is on the greens, as he ranks 14th in strokes gained per round at 0.653. Given his struggles with approach play, Detry may find it difficult to succeed this week, and fantasy managers should consider looking elsewhere at his price tag of $7,200 on DraftKings.
