Mariners Designate Cade Marlowe For Assignment
1 min agoThe Seattle Mariners designated outfielder Cade Marlowe for assignment on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for second baseman Jorge Polanco, who the team re-signed late last week. Marlowe gets the boot off the M's roster after going 2-for-8 with a walk, strikeout and a run scored in only eight games played at the big-league level. In 34 games in his MLB debut the year prior, he hit .239 (21-for-88) with three homers, 11 RBI, four stolen bases, 14 runs scored and 33 strikeouts in 100 plate appearances. The 27-year-old could draw some interest on waivers from other clubs, but if he goes unclaimed, he'll officially be free to sign with any team. At best, Marlowe will operate as organizational outfield depth if he latches on elsewhere and will likely start 2025 in the minors.
