Five Wide Receivers To Sell In Dynasty Fantasy Football Leagues

It's not easy to own a dynasty fantasy football team because you must make moves that best suit your team. For example, it wouldn't make sense for a rebuilding team to try and trade for James Conner or Alvin Kamara this offseason. Both running backs were fantastic in fantasy last year, but they won't really help your rebuilding team a whole lot in 2025. 

Sometimes, dynasty managers also have to know when the right time is to sell a player. There will likely be signs, and their value could be trending in the wrong direction. However, trading that player at the right time could really be a long-term boost for your team.

So, which five wide receivers should fantasy managers sell in dynasty leagues this offseason? Let's dive in and find out.

WR Zay Flowers 

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers is coming off a strong sophomore campaign in which he totaled 74 catches for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns. Those 1,059 receiving yards were a career-high, and he finished as the WR25 in PPR formats. However, dynasty owners should consider trading away the Pro Bowler this offseason. 

There's no doubt that Flowers had a solid season, but his fantasy ceiling continues to be capped. There were just too many games this past year where the 24-year-old was a non-factor in the passing game. He only scored above 16 PPR fantasy points in five games and averaged 9.4 PPR fantasy points across the final eight contests. 

While Flowers might have a higher floor than most young wide receivers, trading him away for multiple high picks or solid players could really help your team's future outlook. It's just hard to imagine the Ravens wideout ever becoming a fantasy superstar, given how much the Ravens run the ball. Baltimore ran the ball at a 53.6% clip this past season. 

On top of that, the Ravens could eventually add another wide receiver to this offense. If that does happen, the 24-year-old would lose some value on a passing offense that averaged only 27.8 pass attempts per game in 2024.

Flowers is a solid fantasy wideout, but he might be more of a high-end WR3 throughout his career in Baltimore. So, test the waters and see what you can get for the former Boston College product. Chances are you can get a strong return for this 24-year-old wideout on an elite offense.  

WR Chris Olave 

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave has had to overcome a lot so far in his young career. He has missed multiple games over the past three years due to four different concussions, and the team's quarterback play remains a problem. Those two reasons are why dynasty managers should be thinking about selling Olave this offseason. 

Olave is at a point in his career where another concussion could force him into retirement. He has suffered five concussions since 2020, and the Saints wideout missed the final eight games of the 2024 season following his second concussion in a three-week span. The 24-year-old will likely wear a guardian cap next season and possibly wear a different helmet, but it should still concern dynasty owners. 

Another concern should be that Derek Carr is under contract for the next two seasons. In his last full season with Carr in 2023, Olave put up a respectable 1,123 receiving yards. However, his target accuracy ranked 72nd among all wideouts, and his 71.7% catchable target rate ranked 43rd at the position. He has also only caught 10 touchdown passes across his 39 career games.

Olave is a talented wide receiver, but he might be more of a middle-of-the-pack WR2 than a WR1 in fantasy. He has a low ceiling and has only scored above 20 PPR fantasy points in five career games. As a result, if you can get a solid return for a 24-year-old wide receiver who has averaged just 12.9 PPR fantasy points in his career, that's a move you should make. 

WR Quentin Johnston 

After an unforgettable rookie season, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston looked much better in his sophomore campaign. He totaled 55 catches for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. More importantly, he became a fantasy option for most managers toward the end of the year. 

Johnston scored in double figures in PPR formats in six of the final 10 games of the season. During that span, the former TCU product averaged 12.6 PPR fantasy points, which included a 31.6 PPR fantasy point day in Week 18 against the Raiders behind a 13-catch, 186-yard performance. Nevertheless, dynasty owners should be looking to trade away the Chargers wideout this offseason. 

Even though he was a potential flex play for most of the year, he was a very touchdown-dependent option. He only totaled over 50 receiving yards three times during the 2024 season and caught less than five passes in 10 of 15 games. As a result, now is the perfect time to sell him following an improved sophomore year. 

The Chargers will almost certainly be in the market for a wide receiver this offseason, and they have the money to spend on a top wideout. According to Over the Cap, Los Angeles will enter free agency with over $63.4 million. So, Johnston could fall lower on the depth chart and see fewer opportunities in 2025 and beyond. 

WR Xavier Legette 

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette was drafted with the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and was often selected in the second round of rookie drafts. However, Legette did not have the strongest rookie campaign. He finished as the WR61 in PPR formats and only totaled 497 receiving yards. 

Those 497 receiving yards are important to note because most first-round wide receivers who fail to hit the 525-yard threshold in their first year don't go on to have great careers. Just look at the career paths of Jalen Reagor (396 yards), Kadarius Toney (420 yards), N'Keal Harry (105 yards), and Corey Coleman (413 yards). 

Of course, there are outliers in that 525-yard threshold, like Jameson Williams. Williams only caught one pass for 41 yards in his rookie season in 2022 but just totaled a career-high 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns this past year for the Lions. The odds, though, are certainly not in Legette's favor.

As a result, dynasty owners should be looking to sell the former South Carolina star this offseason. He didn't show much in his rookie season and ranked 117th in route win rate. Therefore, it is best to see if any of your league mates have an interest in the former first-round pick. There might be someone in your league willing to take a chance, given Bryce Young's improvements as a passer down the stretch. 

WR Tank Dell 

It pains me to put Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell on this list. He was electric as a rookie in 2023 and averaged 15 PPR fantasy points in his first 11 games. While Dell wasn't as consistent of a fantasy option this past year, he still showed some positive things on the field. Nevertheless, he is someone you should be looking to trade away immediately in dynasty leagues. 

Dell has suffered two gruesome injuries in his first two NFL seasons, and it's going to be tough for him to be the same player he once was. In his rookie season, he broke his fibula and missed the final five games of the season. Then, he tore his ACL, LCL, and MCL while also dislocated his kneecap in Week 16 of this past year.

Overcoming all those injuries is not easy. It obviously took Dell some time to get over that fibula injury this past season because he didn't have the same burst from his rookie year. So, how will the 25-year-old wideout look on the field in the coming years following not only that broken fibula injury but also significant damage to his knee? 

With Dell also expected to miss the entire 2025 season, it's best to probably cut your losses and try to find a trade partner for him. He might never be the same player he was during his rookie campaign, and Houston could ease him into action during most of the 2026 campaign. So, he's a sell in most dynasty leagues.

Now, most dynasty owners might not be willing to trade for a player coming off two season-ending injuries. However, if there is someone in your league interested, taking the best deal for him is the right move. Assuming his recovery goes well, we are likely two years away from seeing Dell back at full strength on the field.
