Which NFL Quarterbacks Have Started Multiple Super Bowls?

Tom Brady - NFL QB Passing Leaders, Fantasy Football All Time Greats

Mike Fanelli highlights every NFL quarterback to have started in multiple Super Bowls in league history. Some of the all-time greats make this exclusive list.

Super Bowl LIX is less than 10 days away. The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to become the first time to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts will partake in his second Super Bowl in the past three years. He will join a list of 21 quarterbacks to start in multiple Super Bowls in NFL history.

Let’s look at the other 21 quarterbacks who started in multiple Super Bowls, beginning with the greatest of all time.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Tom Brady

Brady has started in 10 Super Bowls, twice as many as any other quarterback in NFL history. He won his only appearance with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. Meanwhile, the future Hall of Famer went 6-3 during his time with the New England Patriots, including the 28-3 comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

John Elway

After losing his first three Super Bowl appearances, Elway finally got over the hump later in his career with the Denver Broncos. The Hall of Famer won his final two Super Bowl appearances, finishing his career 2-3 in the big game.

Terry Bradshaw

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most historical teams in NFL history. Bradshaw is the best quarterback in franchise history, going 4-0 in the Super Bowl, winning all four titles in a span of six years. He also won two Super Bowl MVP Awards.

Joe Montana

Montana is one of two elite starting quarterbacks in San Francisco 49ers history. The Hall of Famer went 4-0 in the Super Bowl with the 49ers, winning back-to-back titles in 1988 and 1989.

Patrick Mahomes

While some are ready to name him the greatest of all time, Mahomes isn’t in the Tom Brady tier yet. However, winning Super Bowl LIX next weekend would close the gap. He has won back-to-back Super Bowls and three of four appearances since taking over as the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback.

Roger Staubach

The Dallas Cowboys is known as “America’s Team.” Staubach is one of many elite quarterbacks in franchise history. However, he didn’t have the best luck in the Super Bowl, finishing with a 202 record in his four starts.

Peyton Manning

Manning might be the best regular-season quarterback in NFL history. He didn't have the best luck in the postseason. However, the Hall of Famer joins Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl as the starting for multiple teams. Manning went 1-1 with the Indianapolis Colts and 1-1 with the Denver Broncos, finishing his career with a win in Super Bowl L.

Jim Kelly

Unfortunately, no one has had worse luck in the Super Bowl than Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills. The Hall of Fame quarterback led the Bills to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990 through 1993. Sadly, Kelly and the team lost every matchup, making him the only starting quarterback to never win despite playing in at least four Super Bowls.

Troy Aikman

We’ve come to our second Dallas Cowboys quarterback on the list. Aikman is widely known for his role in the broadcast booth. However, he was an elite quarterback back in his playing days. The Hall of Famer went 3-0 in the Super Bowl, winning all three in four years.

Bob Griese

Griese had a 2-1 record in his three Super Bowl appearances as the Miami Dolphins’ starting quarterback. After losing Super Bowl VI, the Hall of Famer led the Dolphins to the only undefeated season in NFL history the following year, defeating the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII, 14-7.

Ben Roethlisberger

The Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled at the quarterback position since Roethlisberger retired. The future Hall of Famer went 2-1 in his three Super Bowl appearances, winning his first two matchups in the big game. He won Super Bowl XL and XLIII within his first five years in the league.

Kurt Warner

While he had a great career, Warner didn’t have the best of luck in the Super Bowl. The Hall of Famer is one of a handful of quarterbacks to start in a Super Bowl for multiple teams. He went 1-1 with the St. Louis Rams, winning Super Bowl XXXIV over the Tennessee Titans. However, Warner lost his lone Super Bowl appearance with the Arizona Cardinals.

Fran Tarkenton

Unfortunately, the Minnesota Vikings have never won a Super Bowl. Tarkenton did his best to bring the trophy home, going 0-3 in Super Bowls as the Vikings starting quarterback.

Bart Starr

Surprisingly, Starr has had the most success in the Super Bowl of any quarterback in franchise history. He is 2-0 in the Super Bowl, winning the first two games in NFL history. The Hall of Famer defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl I and the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl II.

Jim Plunkett

Plunkett won both Super Bowl appearances as a starting quarterback. He won both with the same franchise. However, the Super Bowl XV victory came as a member of the Oakland Raiders, while the Super Bowl XVIII win came after the team moved to Los Angeles.

Eli Manning

While he didn’t have the same regular-season success as his brother, Manning was undefeated in the Super Bowl. He defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in both matchups, including Super Bowl XLII, where the future Hall of Famer ruined the Patriots’ perfect season.

Len Dawson

Unfortunately, Dawson lost Super Bowl I against Bart Starr and the Green Bay Packers. However, he won Super Bowl IV a few years later, giving the Kansas City Chiefs their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history.

Joe Theismann

The Washington Redskins have won three Super Bowls in franchise history. All three have come with a different starting quarterback. However, Theismann is the only quarterback to appear in two Super Bowls as the starter in franchise history, winning Super Bowl XVII against the Miami Dolphins.

Brett Favre

Favre is the most known quarterback in Green Bay Packers history, not named Aaron Rodgers. The gunslinger had a 1-1 record in the Super Bowl, winning Super Bowl XXXI against the New England Patriots while losing the following year to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII.

Russell Wilson

Everyone knows why Wilson isn’t 2-0 in the Super Bowl. The Seattle Seahawks lost Super Bowl XLIX to the New England Patriots on a Malcolm Butler goal-line interception late in the game. However, he did win Super Bowl XLVIII in his second season in the NFL.

Craig Morton

Last on our list is Morton. He went 0-2 in the Super Bowl, losing both appearances in the big game. Morton lost in Super Bowl V as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback and Super Bowl XII as the starter for the Denver Broncos.
