Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton (personal) will not be in the lineup on Tuesday against Detroit. He is tending to a family matter and will miss his first game of the season. It's been a solid campaign for Laughton, as he has amassed 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 47 outings. However, the 30-year-old has struggled offensively since the turn of the year, going scoreless seven times in nine games. With Laughton unavailable, Rodrigo Abols will enter the lineup for his NHL debut. The Latvian forward has recorded nine goals and 19 points in 34 AHL appearances in 2024-25.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton was a one-man show against Detroit on Thursday, scoring all of his team's goals in a 4-1 win. He tied the franchise record with the effort, becoming the 10th player in Flyers history to score four goals in a single contest. John LeClair was the last one to do it in 2002. Laughton was busy in front of the net all game, recording nine shots on goal. He had one short-handed goal and two goals with the Red Wings net empty. Laughton entered Thursday's action with only three goals for the season, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect a similar performance from him anytime soon. But it was a memorable night for Laughton, who has amassed 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 30 games over the course of the season.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to illness. Given the trade speculation surrounding the 29-year-old, some alarm bells went off after he wasn't seen on the ice Wednesday but there appears to be another reason for his absence. A quality two-way center, Laughton has recorded 10 goals and 32 points across 63 games on the season after he recorded a career-high 18 goals and 43 points in 78 games last season. He also has 132 shots, 117 hits, 50 penalty minutes, and a plus-seven rating on his resume this season. He is currently in the third year of a five-year deal that carries a $3 million annual cap hit.

The Philadelphia Flyers are taking calls from teams gauging interest in the availability of center Scott Laughton. The Flyers are reportedly not eager to trade him but with a thin center-ice crop available (and top center Elias Lindholm traded to the Canucks), the club could seemingly get a nice return for the two-way pivot. The 29-year-old recorded a career-high 18 goals and 43 points last season and has five goals and 20 points on 109 shots across 50 games this season. A gritty player and a valuable penalty killer, Laughton also has 73 hits and 44 penalty minutes on his ledger this season. The Flyers were one of the most surprising teams in the league for much of the season's first half but dropped their final five games before the All-Star break and have slipped onto the playoff bubble in the Eastern Conference.
