Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are just one win away from the chance to attempt a historic three-peat in New Orleans.
Coming off a 23-14 victory against the AFC South champion Houston Texans, Travis Kelce emerged as the team's leading receiver, making seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown. The Steve Spagnuolo-led defense was relentless through four quarters, recording eight sacks and allowing only one touchdown.
Mahomes has reached the AFC Championship game every year as a starter. His next challenge is against a familiar opponent, the Buffalo Bills, led by star quarterback Josh Allen. The matchups between Mahomes and Allen have been classic encounters. In the postseason, Mahomes has an undefeated record against Allen, going 3-0. However, Allen holds the advantage in the regular season, with a record of 4-1.

Why The Kansas City Chiefs Can Win Super Bowl LIX
Kansas City is determined to build their dynasty. With the Super Bowl in sight, the experienced team, led by Andy Reid, understands what it takes to succeed in the postseason.
The team has a well-balanced roster with five Pro Bowl selections: Kelce, center Creed Humphrey, guard Trey Smith, guard Joe Thuney, and defensive tackle Chris Jones. They also have eight alternates: Mahomes, fullback Carson Steele, defensive end George Karlaftis, linebackers Nick Bolton and Leo Chenal, cornerback Trent McDuffie, punter Matt Araiza, and kicker Harrison Butker.
While the Chiefs have three selections on the offensive line, the running game remained inconsistent in their win over Houston. Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco combined for only 62 rushing yards. Kansas City has only had two games with a rusher having more than 100 yards this season. They have been able to overcome the underwhelming production.
The connection between Mahomes and Kelce remains one of the best in the league. The offense features several playmakers. Xavier Worthy, a rookie first-round pick, has emerged as a big-play threat, and his role has continued to expand this season. While veterans DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown did not have a reception in the Divisional Round, they are still valuable options for Mahomes.
Kansas City's front seven has been highly effective on defense, especially against the run, where they rank No. 8 in the league. This formidable unit has consistently disrupted opposing offenses throughout the season. They must focus on containing Buffalo's shifty running back James Cook as well as Josh Allen's physical running style.
In NFL history, eight teams have won back-to-back Lombardi Trophies. However, none advanced to the Super Bowl the following year. Will Kansas City be the first to break this trend?
