The NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles are one of the favorites to win Super Bowl LIX in February. Only the top seeds in each conference, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions, are thought of as better bets to win it all.
Philadelphia has a lot of things going in its favor, though. The Eagles are strong on both sides of the ball, especially along the offensive and defensive lines, where they overpower most opponents in the trenches. They also have playmakers all over the field at all different positions, arguably more than any other team in the NFL.
So, how can the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl in February? Here is a list of reasons why the “City of Brotherly Love” might host a parade next month.

Why The Philadelphia Eagles Can Win Super Bowl LIX
Philadelphia Has Been Playing Elite Football Since Week 5
After starting the season 2-2 and having Eagles fans choking on their cheesesteaks, Philadelphia has won 13 of its last 14 games, with the only loss coming against division-rival Washington in Week 16. That was a three-point defeat where quarterback Jalen Hurts was concussed and the defense was short several key players.
Other than that clunker, the Eagles have been clicking on all cylinders since the second month of the season. The defense has held opposing offenses to 20 points or less in eight of its past nine games, while the offense has scored 20-plus points in a dozen contests in a row. The Eagles were also dominant against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.
No Team Runs It Better Than Barkley and the Eagles
Philadelphia can ground and pound most opponents into submission. Led by 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley and the best offensive line in the NFL, the Eagles wear down defenses and hold onto fourth-quarter leads as well as any team in the league. And when the Eagles get down by the goal line, we all know that the Jalen Hurts “tush push” play is virtually impossible to stop.
Surely this slide by Saquon Barkley didn’t cost anybody any money 🤣🤣

Not getting into a high-scoring shootout with Detroit and attacking the Lions’ injury-plagued defense with nonstop running plays also sounds like a recipe for reaching the Super Bowl. And the best way to defeat Kansas City is to keep the Chiefs defense on the field and Patrick Mahomes off it, which the Eagles have the roster to pull off.
The No. 1 Defense In The NFL
The top-ranked Eagles defense was the only unit in the NFL to allow fewer than 300 yards per game in 2024. Philly’s defense was also second in points allowed and tied for fourth in fumble recoveries. Without a doubt, the Eagles have the best defense in football and one that can carry them to a Super Bowl.
Led by Pro Bowl linebacker Zack Baun and defensive tackle Jalen Carter, along with what I believe is the best secondary in the sport, the Eagles defense can take over games when Hurts and the offense are struggling to put up points.

If defenses stack the box to stop Barkley and Hurts from running, Philadelphia has the personnel to air it out and win with its passing attack. Do not be fooled by the numbers of wonderful wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, or tight end Dallas Goedert.
Philadelphia’s run-first offense has tampered down the stats and fantasy values of those three all season long. This trio of pass-catchers ranks right up there with what Kansas City, Detroit, and the rest of the remaining playoff teams have as their top-3 pass-catchers.
If the Eagles' ground game and staunch defense play to the best of their abilities from here on out, they can win the Super Bowl. And even if one of the two falls off a bit, the trio of Brown, Smith, and Goedert can help the Eagles overcome it.
As long as Hurts does not cost them a game due to a combination of poor play and untimely turnovers, the Eagles can very well be the Super Bowl LIX champs. Do not be surprised if it is party time on South Street in a few weeks!
