3 months agoBuffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) was listed as a limited participant during the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. Although it was just a walkthrough, it's good news that Davis was limited after suffering a concussion in the wild-card win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Thursday will be a much bigger test as Davis works his way through the league's concussion protocol with hopes of being active for Sunday evening's Divisional Round battle against the Baltimore Ravens. The 25-year-old will likely need to upgrade to a full session in practice on Thursday or Friday to have a realistic chance to play this weekend as the primary change-of-pace option behind starter James Cook. Davis is an explosive backup option out of Buffalo's backfield, but if he's unable to gain clearance, Ty Johnson would serve as the primary backup to Cook against Baltimore.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoAccording to the team, Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) is officially active for Sunday's playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Davis sustained this concussion during their wild-card victory over the Denver Broncos. Davis was able to log three straight limited practice sessions and was able to turn the corner in time for this contest. Throughout the season, Davis has been deployed as a change-of-pace option in the Buffalo backfield, averaging a mere 6.6 attempts per game. Fantasy managers should continue to expect James Cook to operate as the lead back, with Ty Johnson operating as the No.2 option and Davis operating as a change-of-pace option. He is a high-risk flex option in DFS competitions, given his limited role in the offense.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoBuffalo Bills running back Ray Davis (concussion) is currently listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's playoff matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Davis still remains in concussion protocol on Friday, which doesn't bode well for his chances of playing this weekend. The absence of Davis would likely mean an increased role for Ty Johnson in the backfield. Last week, Johnson rushed nine times for 44 yards while hauling in two receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown through the air. James Cook figures to see a majority of the carries after getting 23 touches last weekend. It's hard to imagine Johnson or Davis being reliable DFS options.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

3 months agoBuffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol on Friday. Davis suffered a scary concussion in the wild-card win over the Denver Broncos last Sunday and never returned to the game. While he remains in the concussion protocol, he's put in two limited practices this week. However, the 25-year-old backup will need to upgrade to a full practice on Friday and be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to get the green light to play this Sunday in the Divisional Round of the postseason versus the visiting Baltimore Ravens. The fact that he's still in the protocol on Friday means there's a good chance he'll be ruled out before Sunday's game. James Cook remains Buffalo's lead back, but a Davis absence would open up a much bigger workload for Ty Johnson against the Ravens.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoAccording to the team, Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) remained limited during Thursday's practice. Davis will have another opportunity on Friday to log a full session before the final injury report. The Kentucky product suffered a concussion during Sunday's victory over the Denver Broncos. Before exiting, he ran the ball once for three yards. Through the first 16 contests of the season, Davis averaged 23.6 yards per game. During game No.17, Davis was given the start and tallied 64 yards on a season-high 15 attempts as the Bills had already locked up the No.2 seed. If Davis were to sit out on Sunday evening, fantasy managers should expect Ty Johnson to be deployed as the clear No.2 option behind James Cook against the Baltimore Ravens.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
