The Houston Texans signed wide receiver Alex Erickson to the practice squad on Wednesday, according to NFL.com. This move came after the team released veteran wideout Diontae Johnson on Tuesday and promoted Jared Wayne to the active roster. Erickson, a 32-year-old undrafted free agent out of the class of 2016, has hauled in 112 passes for 1,373 yards, and two touchdowns across 105 NFL games with the Bengals, Panthers, and Chargers. He last suited up for the Chargers in 2023. Unless Houston suffers another wide receiver injury and advances to the AFC Championship Game, it would be a surprise if Erickson sees game action.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Alex Erickson led the team in receiving in a Week 17 loss to the Denver Broncos. Erickson was targeted eight times, making seven catches for 98 yards. It's very telling of the Chargers season that Alex Erickson is the one leading the team in catches and yards in a Week 17 game against a division rival. They'll have one more game before the merciful end of the season with a Week 18 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller

The New York Jets released veteran wide receiver Alex Erickson on Monday, according to a source. Erickson was a preseason standout, catching two touchdown passes in Saturday's finale, so he could be a candidate to rejoin the team's practice squad entering the 2023 regular season. If the 30-year-old doesn't return to the Jets' practice squad, he figures to get a shot with another team as receiver depth. He spent the 2022 campaign with the Washington Commanders, but he only saw time on special teams as a kick returner and wasn't targeted on offense. Since entering the league in 2016 as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals, Erickson has 96 receptions for 1,141 yards and only one touchdown on 152 targets in 99 games (14 starts) for the Bengals, and Carolina Panthers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Jets wide receiver Alex Erickson hauled in all five of his targets for 38 yards and two touchdowns in the team's 32-24 preseason victory over the New York Giants. Both of his scores came in the fourth quarter on passes from quarterback Tim Boyle. Erickson has seven years of NFL experience but has mainly been utilized on special teams. The 30-year-old was among the first receivers to come off the bench on Saturday and has a clear path to making New York's final roster following the announcement of Corey Davis' retirement earlier this week. He remains off the fantasy radar for now but could conceivably contribute on offense at some point this season.--Jorden Hill - RotoBaller

The New York Jets signed free-agent wide receiver Alex Erickson and safety Dane Cruikshank to undisclosed deals on Thursday. Erickson played in only two games with the Washington Commanders last year and wasn't used at all on offense, although he returned four punts for 25 yards. In seven NFL seasons, he has 96 receptions on 152 targets for 1,141 yards and one touchdown in 99 games (14 starts). Cruikshank didn't play at all last year due to a hamstring injury, but he has five years experience in the NFL, mostly on special teams. In 52 career games (four starts) with the Titans and Bears, he has 66 tackles (46 solo), an interception and a forced fumble. Erickson and Cruikshank will provide special teams depth for the Jets.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
