Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton (knee) wasn't able to play in his team's Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys. It's possible he could have made a difference in the shocking loss. And fantasy football managers are rightfully wondering if he'll play again this season.
There are only two more games left before the playoffs, and even an ailment that doesn't require a player to be placed on injured reserve can mean fantasy managers should drop the player. An IR designation requires the athlete to miss at least four games.
So is Otton out for the season or will he play again this year?

Is Cade Otton Out For The Season?
It's not known yet if he'll play again before the regular season is over. He wasn't able to practice on Tuesday, though, which isn't good news for his availability in Week 17. He was present at the team's walkthrough, but didn't end up participating. It's early in the week, though.
Merry Christmas Eve from the #Bucs facility.
Jordan Whitehead has been designated for return and was seen at practice, as was Cade Otton. Tampa Bay had another walkthrough, so not sure what they were able to do during it.

We haven't had any formal confirmation that he'll miss the rest of the year, and he hasn't been placed on injured reserve, so a return at some point is possible. This is just something we'll have to wait on. The team won't play again until Sunday, so there will be more clarity about his status in a few days.
He had been producing extremely well for fantasy football for a TE over a three-week span from Week 7 to Week 9, but his production sharply fell off afterwards. A large part of this is due to the return of wide receiver Mike Evans, who severely restricts Otton's upside.
He's now just a very mediocre starting option for fantasy managers, and doesn't seem to have much upside when Evans is healthy.
