Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins was a solid RB2 option for fantasy managers through the first three months of the season. He averaged 15.1 PPR fantasy points per game across the first 12 weeks and finished as a top-12 fantasy running back five times. Dobbins also had a team-high eight rushing touchdowns.
However, Dobbins suffered a knee injury in the team's loss to the Ravens in Week 12. He was then placed on injured reserve shortly after with an MCL sprain.
So, is Dobbins out for the season? Will he play again this season? Let's dive in and find out.

Is J.K. Dobbins Out For The Season?
Dobbins has dealt with his fair share of injuries over his NFL career. He tore his ACL during the preseason of the 2021 season, which required him to miss his entire sophomore year and half of his third season in 2022. Then, he tore his Achilles last season in Week 1 against the Texans. While this MCL sprain isn't as severe as his first two season-ending injuries, the former Ohio State star will still miss multiple weeks.
When Dobbins was placed on IR before Week 13, he was set to miss a minimum of four games. That means he will be out through at least Week 16. So, the earliest he can return will be in Week 17 against the Patriots. As a result, the 25-year-old running back can be dropped in most re-draft formats heading into Week 14.
JK Dobbins being placed on IR makes him immediately droppable for the rest of the 2024 Fantasy Football campaign.

There have been no updates about Dobbins' recovery so far, so it remains to be seen if he will be back before the regular season ends. Given his recent injury history, though, expect the Chargers to be really cautious with him down the stretch.
