Despite plenty of regular-season success, Dallas under McCarthy has failed to log any playoff wins other than one over the aging shell of what quarterback Tom Brady used to be and a win over the Seattle Seahawks in 2018. That team likely didn't belong in the playoffs either way, yet Dallas still made it a close game.
So, what exactly did Jones say? Should we take it as legitimate or with a container of salt?

What Jerry Jones Said
Because McCarthy's coaching contract is set to expire at the end of this season, Jones was asked on the radio show 105.3 The Fan about extending McCarthy. Jones stated that it wouldn't be crazy, and in his typical fashion, reminded us of what we've known for over a decade -- he's a Super Bowl-winning HC.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan said he's not ruling out a contract extension for head coach Mike McCarthy.
"I don't think that's crazy at all. This is a Super Bowl-winning coach. Mike McCarthy has been there and done that. He has great ideas. We got a lot of football…

That's great, Jerry. You'd like it if the coach wins a Super Bowl for your team, though. That championship is the main reason he was hired in the first place. So was riding the successes of a Hall of Fame quarterback for far too long.
Does It Actually Mean Anything?
The problem with McCarthy isn't that anything Jones said wasn't true. It's that he's just not good enough to elevate the team beyond the first round of the playoffs unless it faces another extremely weak squad. JJ is known for always wanting to be the center of attention, though.

Much of what we could call Jerry-speak is centered around this goal. The writing was probably on the wall after Dallas earned the No. 2 seed in the NFC last season only to be obliterated by the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. There should be no coming back from that. This losing season now gives Jones a perfect excuse to move on.
