New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (chest) was placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 9 of NFL action with a chest injury. He's not played since then, as he's not eligible to return yet. Still, it's worth questioning whether he'll see the field at any point again this season.
It's a lost year for the Jets. Despite plenty of optimism heading into 2024, the team has fallen completely flat, especially on offense. They're one of the worst units in the league. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn't been the messiah NYJ fans were hoping for, and there's reason to expect they may shut down some players.
So will Lazard play again this year or is he out for the season?

Is Allen Lazard Out For The Season?
There hasn't been much news on him since he was placed on IR, which makes sense. He missed Weeks 9-11, and the team had a bye in Week 12. That means he won't be able to play in Week 13 -- players on injured reserve are required to miss at least four games, regardless of bye weeks.

There have been scant updates since then. Fantasy managers should expect to get more clarity closer to Week 14, which doesn't help, considering the fantasy playoffs start so soon. That's the reality of the IR rules, though. The team may not have even formally evaluated his condition to determine if he'll return yet.
They didn't designate him on season-ending IR, though, so there's reason for optimism. The nature of his ailment hasn't been fully disclosed, but generally, chest injuries aren't season-ending, which is good news.
Unfortunately, this is one of those "wait and see" situations. For our money, we'd bet he'll come back at some point, but in what capacity, we don't know. He could be limited upon his return. But he was a difference-maker for the offense when he was healthy, so he's worth keeping on rosters in leagues with 12 or more teams.
