4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Hayden Hurst (hip) has been ruled out ahead of the Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Hurst was inactive last week and appeared to be in line to play this weekend until landing on the injury report on Friday. As a result, the Chargers have decided to hold out the 31-year-old for Monday's game. Will Dissly figures to serve as the primary pass-catching option for the Chargers. Last week, Dissley hauled in four of his six targets for 80 yards in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He'll have some TE2 appeal after seeing six targets in back-to-back games.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

3 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) is active for the Week 17 game against the New England Patriots on Saturday, but fellow tight end Hayden Hurst (illness) has been ruled out. Both tight ends were questionable on the final Week 17 injury report. Dissly will return after missing the last two games due to a shoulder injury. Hurst has mainly been a blocking TE for the Bolts, so him being out shouldn't really open up a ton more targets for Dissly. Dissly hasn't really been on the fantasy radar in 2024, outside of being a TE streamer during bye weeks, so fantasy managers playing for a championship this week should probably avoid him as a TE2. He could be eased back into the offense and will most likely being sharing playing time with Stone Smartt. Dissly only has one touchdown on the year and is averaging 5.3 half-PPR points per game, which makes him the TE31 in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight ends Will Dissly (shoulder) and Hayden Hurst (illness) are listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the New England Patriots. Dissly has been unable to suit up the past two weeks but was able to log a full practice on Thursday afternoon, which is a promising sign. Hurst returned from injured reserve last weekend but could only practice once this week (in a limited capacity) due to an illness. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring their status before Saturday's kickoff. Dissly has shown flashes of potential throughout the season, as he averaged a solid 10.8 PPR points per game during Weeks 7 through 11. If Dissly can suit up, he should see a majority of the opportunities. If Hurst can also suit up, both will limit each other's ceiling. If both tight ends are eventually ruled out, Stone Smartt would get the starting nod and would be a viable low-end TE1 in deeper 14+ team formats.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) was limited in practice on Tuesday. Additionally, tight end Hayden Hurst (illness) did not practice on Tuesday. Dissly has missed two straight games with the injury so his return to practice at this point in the week is encouraging. Dissly is not very fantasy-relevant on his own, but he is an important offensive piece for the Chargers, especially quarterback Justin Herbert. Hurst was the No. 1 tight end for the Chargers in Week 16 in Dissly's absence. However, Hurst was returning from a hip injury that had sidelined him since Week 11. As such, he only received one target which resulted in one catch for eight yards. Hurst's absence with an illness is not concerning at this point in the week but it is worth monitoring as the week wears on. Neither player is on the fantasy radar this week, but both are important for the prospects of Herbert's fantasy play. Hopefully, both tight ends will be able to take the field together for the first time since Week 10.--Quincy Milton III - RotoBaller

4 months agoThe Los Angeles Chargers plan to activate tight end Hayden Hurst (hip) from Injured Reserve to play in Thursday's divisional clash against the visiting Denver Broncos, according to a source. Hurst landed on IR in late November with a hip injury, but he has practiced in full since having his 21-day practice window opened this week. It's good timing for the 31-year-old with fellow tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) already ruled out for Week 16. Hurst last played in Week 10, though, so it's fair to expect him to be on a limited snap count in his first game back on a short week. Additionally, Hurst won't be a viable starting option in fantasy in a tough matchup against the stout Broncos defense. Hurst should work alongside Stone Smartt, who will be the better TE2 streaming upside play in DFS and deeper fantasy leagues. Hurst caught only seven passes for 65 yards on 12 targets in seven games before going on IR.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
