Should I Drop Jake Ferguson? Fantasy Football Outlook For Week 12

Jake Ferguson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL News

Should I drop Jake Ferguson for fantasy football Week 12? Is Jake Ferguson a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson was a popular mid-round draft pick in 2024 after a sophomore-year breakout last season. However, the former Wisconsin star hasn’t lived up to the draft hype.

The third-year pro is the TE22 for the year, averaging 6.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has scored fewer than 5.4 fantasy points in 55.6% of the games, including four of the past five contests.

Should fantasy players drop Ferguson, or will the veteran tight end turn things around over the next few weeks? Let’s dive into it.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Jake Ferguson?

Ferguson has scored double-digit fantasy points in only three games this season, including just once since Week 5. Unfortunately, fantasy players shouldn’t expect that to turn around anytime soon. The Cowboys will be without Dak Prescott (hamstring) for the rest of the year, meaning Ferguson will catch passes from Cooper Rush or Trey Lance over the final seven games.

Furthermore, the third-year pro suffered a concussion early in Monday night’s loss to the Houston Texans. Ferguson is a long shot to play Sunday against the Washington Commanders and could miss the Thanksgiving matchup against the New York Giants.

Fantasy players that need tight end help over the next few weeks should be fine dropping Ferguson.

Who Can I Add Off The Waiver Wire?

While there are a few potential replacement options on the waive wire, my favorite is Will Dissly. The veteran tight end has been productive lately. He has averaged 6.6 targets and 8.4 fantasy points per game over the past five weeks.

Furthermore, Dissly is coming off his best performance this season, totaling four receptions on six targets for 80 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 16 fantasy points in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy players who need a replacement for Ferguson should make Dissly their top priority off the waiver wire this week. He is rostered in only 24% of Yahoo leagues.
