Without question, nearly every tight end around the National Football League struggled to begin the year. There were many calling for the position to be eradicated from fantasy play altogether. However, things have turned around since then. With most fantasy leagues heading toward the postseason, managers must consider alternatives in case their starting tight ends aren’t on the field in Week 11.

Dallas Goedert Injury Update

Goedert was a top fantasy tight end at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign. Unfortunately, he missed time because of a hamstring injury suffered in Week 6 before eventually returning for the meeting with the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas Goedert said he "feels good" — look for him play Thursday against Washington.

"The injury rate is 100 percent — I don't know if anyone playing this game is completely healthy if they're playing the right way, in my opinion," Goedert said.

The 29-year-old had only two catches in that one. Yet, he found the end zone for the first time this season. Goedert was back on the injury report due to an ankle issue to begin the week.

However, he practiced in full on Wednesday and doesn’t carry a designation heading into Thursday night’s divisional showdown versus Washington. Although his lack of involvement in Week 10 is concerning, there aren’t many with the type of upside Goedert possesses. Keep him starting.  

Dalton Kincaid Injury Update

Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper weren’t available for the 30-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts. With the duo not guaranteed to be on the field in Week 11 against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, others could continue to benefit.

With that said, Kincaid may not be one of them, with the 2023 No. 25 overall pick missing practice on Wednesday because of a knee injury. He still has time to get healthy before Sunday.

But if Kincaid doesn’t play, Dawson Knox may be worth streaming in deep, multi-tight-end setups, even more so if Cooper and Coleman also remain on the shelf.  

Hunter Henry Injury Update

Henry hasn’t been the most productive fantasy tight end year. Still, the 29-year-old has been decent, catching at least seven passes in three games this season.

He’s currently bothered by a foot injury, resulting in a limited practice session on Wednesday. Henry will have a few more days to get healthy. As such, if he doesn’t get on the field versus the Rams, Austin Hooper should slide into his spot.

Hooper has 19 catches for 201 yards and a touchdown this season, so he’s not an ideal option in any fantasy format, even with the potential for more looks from Drake Maye.  

George Kittle Injury Update

Despite missing time this season, Kittle is the best fantasy tight end going. Naturally, there is always concern whenever his name appears on the injury report.

The veteran didn’t practice on Wednesday because of a bum hamstring. But head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Kittle is expected back for Thursday‘s session.

If he doesn’t play on Sunday versus the Seahawks, Eric Saubert would presumably take over. Still, Kittle’s absence would likely result in more touches for guys like Deebo Samuel Sr., Jauan Jennings, Christian McCaffrey, and Ricky Pearsall, who scored his first career touchdown in Week 10.  

Isaiah Likely Injury Update

Likely began the 2024-25 campaign by catching nine of his 12 targets for 111 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, he hasn't been reliable outside of a two-score game in the overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals back in Week 5.

He wasn’t on the field for the rematch last Thursday night. But Likely is trying to work his way back ahead of the AFC North clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, the red-hot Mark Andrews, who has had five touchdowns since Week 6, should continue to command the attention of Lamar Jackson, leaving little room for Likely to get involved if he can play. 

Sam LaPorta Injury Update

LaPorta was held out of the end zone in the Lions’ first four contests of the season. Since then, he’s found the end zone three times dating back to the Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

But just when the former Iowa Hawkeye is starting to heat up, he’s now day-to-day with an AC joint sprain. It appears there is a real chance LaPorta won’t suit up against the visiting Jaguars.

If that’s the case, Brock Wright would likely move to the top of the depth chart. Still, Wright has only nine catches for 58 yards and a touchdown, so he’s hard to trust with that kind of production.
