Should DFS Players Fade Ty Gibbs At Phoenix?
1 week agoTy Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing will start sixth after qualifying for this week's NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway, gaining a top-10 start position for the second time in his Cup career at the site. In three races at Phoenix, Gibbs has one top-5 finish of third, which he obtained in the spring race at the site earlier this year, while also leading 57 laps. After 35 races this season, Gibbs has 12 top-10 finishes and an average finish of 16.8. The No. 54 Toyota driver also has two top-10 finishes at short tracks, but they were nabbed earlier in the season. In practice, Gibbs ranked fourth in five consecutive lap averages, 22nd in 10 consecutive lap averages, and 11th in overall lap averages. With underwhelming practice speeds outside of the short run, only a few solid short track performances, and low upside from his starting position this week, it's difficult to recommend Gibbs for any DFS lineup, especially as he is on a slump where he struggled to place higher than 30th in the last four races this season.
