Welcome back to “The Kick-Off” and welcome to the 2024-25 season! Another round of European play has ended. Although, there will not be much rotation on this slate. This slate will force players to pay up for the bigger salaries, with very little to offer in the middle of the salary range. Let’s kick off Matchweek Eleven!
The top favorite for this weekend is Wolverhampton -115 vs Southampton FC +290. I will guide you through this four-match slate starting at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

EPL DFS Goalies
Mark Flekken - DK $4.9K || FD $11
Opponent - AFC Bournemouth
The goalkeeper position is not the most friendly this weekend, with many ‘pickem’ matches. This brings us back to Mark Flekken of Brentford FC. Flekken continues to dominate between the sticks, making 26 saves and conceding 11 times in his last five domestic matches. With Monday’s 2-1 loss to Fulham, he has now recorded double-digit fantasy points in four of his ten starts.
In Per 90 stats, the Cherries are the third-best in Shots but in the league's bottom half in Goals. Meanwhile, Brentford is the worst in Shots Against and the third-worst in Goals Against. They also have the second-worst Penalty Area Defense. If, and a big IF, Brentford’s backline can hold Bournemouth to a goal or less, Flekken could be in for a big day.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Sá (DK $5.3K || FD $12), Henderson (DK $4.7K || FD $10)
EPL DFS Forwards
Matheus Cunha - DK $10.6K || FD $22
Opponent - Southampton
Matheus Cunha offers one of the best-projected floors and potentially the best ceiling at any position on the slate. The attacking midfielder and striker is in a prime matchup, home against Southampton. The Saints are a bottom-three club in the top-flight in all meaningful metrics against Per 90.
Cunha takes the majority of set pieces for Wolverhampton, cementing his floor. Despite being the highest-salaried player on the slate, he is still projected to have 15 fantasy points at a minimum. In his last five domestic matches, he has two goals, one assist, 15 shots, ten created chances, 18 crosses, 11 corners, eight tackles, one interception, and two clearances.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Bowen (DK $10K || FD $21), McNeil (DK $9.8K || FD $20)
EPL DFS Midfielders
Christian Nørgaard - DK $3.6K || FD $17
Opponent - AFC Bournemouth
With a ‘safe’ floor coming at a premium this weekend, it may be imperative to pay up for it, especially in ‘CASH’ contests. This will require areas of ‘paydown’ to have enough salary to allocate to the bigger names. With that in mind, Christian Nørgaard makes for an optimal play. The box-to-box midfielder has one goal, one assist, seven shots, three created chances, one cross, 12 tackles, eight interceptions, 12 clearances, and two blocks over his most recent five domestic fixtures.
AFC Bournemouth has been playing improved soccer lately but is still susceptible to counters. After a poor start to the 2024-2025 campaign, Norgaard has recorded six or more fantasy points in four of the aforementioned last five appearances. In an optimal matchup, the midfielder only needs a few tackles to maintain value.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Mbeumo (DK $10.2K || FD $22), Pereira (DK $7.6K || FD $16)
EPL DFS Defenders
Santiago Bueno - DK $2.8K || FD $10
Opponent - Southampton
To make studs and duds work on this slate, paying down at one, if not both, of the defender positions will be required. Santiago Bueno of Wolverhampton makes an interesting case for a ‘punt’ play. The centerback has one shot, eight tackles, four interceptions, 16 clearances, and seven blocks throughout his last five domestic matches.
Southampton is the worst club in Goals Per 90 on the season and the second-worst in Shots Per 90. Wolverhampton has averaged one goal per game over its last five home domestic matches. If Bueno and company can hold off the Saints for a shutout, he would instantly surpass value.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Sugawara (DK $5.4K || FD $11), Collins (DK $3.5K || FD $13)
Corner Takers
- Brentford FC: Mbeumo
- AFC Bournemouth: Tavernier/Cook
- Crystal Palace: Kamada
- Fulham: Pereira
- West Ham United: Bowen
- Everton: McNeil
- Wolverhampton: Cunha
- Southampton FC: Sugawara/Dibling
Thanks for reading The Kick-Off. Good luck in all of your contests today!
