Horvat's playmaking helped the Islanders score twice in the second period, and he completed the scoring with an empty-net goal. Horvat tallied five points in October but already has seven points for November. The 29-year-old has given his account a big boost with three multi-point performances in four games. He's managed 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 14 games for the campaign. Horvat and the Islanders offense faces a big test next, as they host New Jersey on Saturday. The Devils are tied for the league lead with three shutouts and carry a 2.81 goals-against average.

Horvat tallied his first goal of the evening in the opening frame while shorthanded. Horvat would beat Boston netminder Joonas Korpisalo on a snap shot. Later in overtime, Horvat would strike again to seal the victory on another snapshot. Horvat has now tallied seven points (four goals, three helpers) over his previous seven contests. Overall, he sits with 29 points through 39 games but he has begun to put his slow start behind him. Horvat will look to stay hot on Thursday evening when the Islanders begin their west coast trip in Las Vegas.

Bo Horvat Tallies Goal, Two Helpers In Victory
3 months agoNew York Islanders center Bo Horvat tallied three points in their victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday evening. Horvat got on the scoresheet first, with a primary assist on Maxim Tsyplakov's opening tally. Later in the period, Horvat would find the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season. Then in the third period, Horvat would tack his second helper of the evening, this time a secondary assist on Noah Dobson's strike. After tallying just three points through November 16 through December 3, Horvat has begun to heat up. Over his past seven contests, he has tallied eight points, including two multi-point games. Horvat will look to stay hot on Monday evening against the Buffalo Sabres.

Horvat missed his first game of the season on Sunday versus Chicago due to a lower-body injury. He's been in top form recently, averaging a point per game for his last five outings. For the season overall, Horvat boasts 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) in 31 contests. If he's ready to return on Tuesday, Horvat is projected to skate with Simon Holmstrom and Kyle MacLean on the second line.

Just as Mathew Barzal (upper body) returned to action, Horvat had to exit the lineup due to a lower-body injury. The team considers Horvat day-to-day. Horvat has been the Islanders' assists leader this season with 14 helpers and boasts 22 points through 31 outings. His first chance to return comes on Tuesday against Carolina. With Horvat out, Barzal took the first-line center duties on Sunday, skating with Anders Lee and Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
