Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) has now missed four contests with an ankle injury that he picked up in his Week 4 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Los Angeles had their bye week in Week 5, meaning that Edwards has now had five weeks to recover from his issue.
He was slated to be in a complimentary role with lead running back J.K. Dobbins, but that hasn't come to fruition. Dobbins has been excellent, both in overall productivity and efficiency, while Edwards did not impress in his limited action.
Will Edwards return and be back this week, or will it take longer?

Gus Edwards Injury Update
As is the case with many players, there haven't been updates about Edwards' return specifically yet. We don't have an official timetable, and Chargers staff have mostly been mute about this subject.
Chargers placed running back Gus Edwards and cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., on injured reserve, sidelining each for a minimum of four games.

It's possible they're holding him out for longer than usual for some reason. It could be a recurring injury, or it could be that the lead back for LA is doing a great job and the rookie third-stringer has been fine as a backup.
Gus Edwards Fantasy Football Outlook
Dobbins has been thriving in his absence, and while this was projected to be a committee before the season, it's likely that the clear RB1 job will belong to Edwards' cohort. That's unlikely to change as the season goes on.
J.K. Dobbins Stays Busy
Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins posted 98 yards, 1 TD, and a season-high 25 carries in Sunday's win over Denver. Previously, he hadn't topped 17 rush attempts this season. Note that Gus Edwards missed this one with an ankle injury. pic.twitter.com/mSC52jekRS

Rookie and current backup Kimani Vidal had just five carries for seven yards in Week 9, so it's safe to assume he won't be much of a factor this season. This at least gives Edwards room to return and have somewhat of an impact, and possibly be the starter if Dobbins goes down with injury, but the future is looking grim.
