Buffalo Sabres goaltender Devon Levi will make his first start in five games on Friday when the team hosts the Islanders. After struggling in the first few games, the 22-year-old has seen limited action this season. Levi carries a 1-2-0 record and has allowed 3.79 goals with a .874 save percentage. However, on Friday, he gets a new opportunity as the Sabres kick off a back-to-back set. Levi is in a terrific position to regain some confidence because the Islanders have badly struggled for goals this season. They currently sit last in the league with a 2.10 goals-for-average, and Patrick Roy's team has already been shut out four times in 10 games. To make matters worse, the Islanders have also just lost their star man, Mathew Barzal (upper body).--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Devon Levi has been loaned to the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans. The 21-year-old was given an opportunity to take over as the club's No. 1 netminder to begin the season but has struggled with both his health and his performance. The seventh-round pick from 2020 owns a 3.73 goals-against average and an 876 Sv% across nine games on the season while he has also missed time with a lower-body injury. Certainly, the Sabres are attempting to be cautious with their young netminder who dominated for two seasons at Northeastern University before working to a decent 2.94 GAA and .905 Sv% across a seven-game debut with the Sabres last season. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen should get the lion's share of starts while Levi works out the kinks in the minors.--Brenton Kemp

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Devon Levi (lower body) has recovered from injury and will be in the lineup for Wednesday's matchup against Philadelphia, backing up Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. The talented netminder has been unavailable since Oct. 19. With Eric Comrie (lower body) also out, the Sabres found themselves in a sticky situation, but Luukkonen has held down the fort well, even pulling off his first career shutout last time out in a very difficult matchup against Colorado. Levi has gone 1-3-0 so far this season with a 3.26 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage. He should return to action later in the week when Buffalo starts a back-to-back set Friday with a rematch versus Philadelphia.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Buffalo Sabres goalie Devon Levi did not practice Friday and is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old rookie will presumably get Saturday's game against the New York Islanders off regardless of health, as he's started all four of the Sabres games so far and hasn't faired well, going 1-3 with a 3.26 GAA and .892 SV%. If the injury ends up being a long-term issue, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Eric Comrie will likely share the crease, with the former getting the majority of the starts.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Devon Levi is set to take over the crease in 2023-24 and is determined to keep improving. "I don't think you could ever be your best," Levi told Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. "There's always more, you can keep pushing that level. It's like building up your character in a video game. Just keep leveling up." Following a phenomenal college career with Northeastern University, Levi kicked down the NHL door with a bang last season, going 5-2-0 in his first seven career appearances. He finished with a 2.94 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage. There will likely be a few bumps on the road for the 21-year-old, but Levi is very highly regarded, and it's going to be interesting to see how well he does in his first full season, particularly with expectations rising in Buffalo and the Sabres seeking to end a league-worst 12-year playoff drought.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
