Week 9 Defense Outlooks for Fantasy Football
New Orleans DST - Fantasy Football Outlook
The New Orleans Saints D/ST struggled again in Week 8, giving up 26 points to the Los Angeles Chargers. The team did record three sacks (which matched their output over their last three games) and a safety to salvage the day but failed to crack double-digits in fantasy points for the sixth time this season.
In Week 9, the Saints get a rematch against the Carolina Panthers, who delivered the Saints' highest-scoring performance in 2024. In that game, New Orleans held Carolina to 10 points, had four sacks, and picked up three takeaways.
Unfortunately, New Orleans is missing some key pieces in their secondary. Paulson Adebo (leg) broke his femur last week and both Marshon Lattimore (hamstring) and Kool-Aid McKinstry (hamstring) have already been declared out. Still, until Bryce Young gives cause to do otherwise it is safe to bet against him.

Philadelphia Eagles DST - Fantasy Football Outlook
The Philadelphia Eagles defense will take on the 2-6 Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. The defense has started to get back on track the past few weeks, with last week's win over the Bengals being the best game for them all year.
While Jacksonville looked like a great offense coming into the year, they are now dealing with a slew of injuries to top receivers Christian Kirk (collarbone), Brian Thomas Jr. (chest), and Gabe Davis (shoulder). Kirk is on IR and both Thomas Jr. and Davis are game-time decisions.
On top of this, running back Travis Etienne (hamstring) is a game-time decision as well, and the Jaguars just traded anchor left tackle Cam Robinson to the Vikings, leaving a hole in the team's already struggling offensive line. Philly has a chance to take advantage of these issues and is a top-tier streaming option in Week 9.
- Ryan Larrison
Washington Commanders DST - Fantasy Football Outlook
The Washington Commanders defense is shaping up to be a high-end option facing the New York Giants in Week 9. Since Week 4, the Commanders have only allowed more than 20+ points on one occasion. This lone blemish was to the high-powered Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.
Last weekend, the Commanders held the Chicago Bears to 15 points and tallied three sacks. Facing Daniel Jones, who has been sacked 33 times this season, which is the third-most in football, and who has thrown five interceptions, sets the Commanders defense up for another productive afternoon. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable starting Washington in all formats.
