Like a backup quarterback patiently holding the clipboard with his hat on backward, I've been summoned into action to help give you some helpful NFL DFS advice for Week 9. My good friend Dennis Clausen, who usually pens this piece, asked me to help him out this week. Don't worry - Dennis is fine, other than the fact that he's sliding further into a football-induced depression each week as his Bengals fall further out of playoff contention.
In this article, I will be providing you with my Week 9 daily fantasy football lineup picks for FanDuel and the 2024 NFL season. These lineups can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on FanDuel.

Week 9 FanDuel Quarterbacks - NFL DFS Lineup Picks
Jalen Hurts vs. JAX ($9,300)
Hurts has looked like the 2022 version of himself over the last month, which is a great thing for the Eagles and a very bad thing for any of their upcoming opponents.

Hurts ran for three touchdowns last week against the Bengals while completing 80% of his passes for 236 yards and a score. And now he gets to face a porous Jacksonville secondary that has failed to slow anyone down this season. What's not to love about Hurts and the Eagles passing game this week?
Well, the price (Hurts is now the most expensive QB on the slate) and the concerns about a blowout (the Eagles are heavily favored) might keep players from investing in Hurts this week. But I think Hurts has the most upside of any of the high-priced, dual-threat quarterbacks on this slate.
Geno Smith vs. LAR ($7,400)
Geno had his worst fantasy performance of the season of the year last week against Buffalo, but because of that nine-point outing, we get him pretty cheap this week in a much better spot against the Rams.
Smith is the unlikely leader in passing yards in the NFL this season but has only eight passing touchdowns, throwing for more than one touchdown just once. He faces a Rams' pass defense that ranks 27th (DVOA) this year, and this game carries a 48-point total as Vegas expects a decent amount of scoring on each side.
If Geno can find the end zone a few times in this game, he's going to be a great value with his volume of pass attempts and high yardage totals. If you like paying down at QB in cash games, then he might be the guy you are looking for in those types of builds.
Also Consider: Bo Nix ($7,200)
Week 9 FanDuel Running Backs - NFL DFS Lineup Picks
Bijan Robinson vs. DAL ($8,500)
It took a little longer than we expected, but Bijan Robinson has arrived as one of the best backs in the league.
The highest-graded RB over the past two weeks:

Robinson has stacked up three 20 FanDuel point games now in a row as his abilities as a runner and receiver have been on full display.
This week, Robinson has a fantastic matchup. Dallas ranks 28th in rush defense (DVOA) and 31st in adjusted line yards. At the same time, Atlanta's offensive line is fourth in adjusted line yards and fourth in rushing offense (DVOA). To put it more simply - the advantage up front is significant, and that means Robinson should see some nice holes this week.
Robinson is a big problem for tacklers once he hits the second level or is in the open field. I expect him to have a big game here against Dallas, either on the ground or in the passing game - or both. And I want some exposure to Atlanta's third-best team total on the main slate.
Chuba Hubbard vs. NO ($6,900)
There was a stretch of three weeks there where Hubbard was a major chalk play due to his low price and high volume of touches. But with two lackluster scores in a row, will DFS players be willing to go back to Hubbard here against the Saints? And does having Bryce Young under center lower the ceiling of all the Carolina weapons?
I don't have all the answers, but I do know that Hubbard has been really good for the most part when he gets 20+ touches, and this feels like a game where he might be able to see the volume we are looking for in DFS.
The Panthers' biggest strength has been their offensive line's run blocking this season. It's also been the Saints' biggest weakness as they rank dead last in rushing DVOA defense.
While the Saints blew out the Panthers in Week 1, and Hubbard saw only six carries, this New Orleans team is not the same team that it was back in September, and the Panthers have shown considerable improvement since then as well.
Also Consider: Kyren Williams ($8,900), James Cook ($7,900), D'Andre Swift ($7,200)
Week 9 FanDuel Wide Receivers - NFL DFS Lineup Picks
A.J. Brown vs. JAX ($9,000)
Brown has been really good for the Eagles in the four games in which he has suited up. Last week was his lowest output for DFS, as he posted only 10.9 FD points, but he was still very effective in the win, going 5-84 on six targets. He simply didn't get in the end zone last week (for the first time), as Hurts ran for three scores and found DeVonta Smith for the other one.
I’m not saying AJ Brown is the best WR in the NFL. But I’m not not saying it. pic.twitter.com/4vPfZ0ZHRl
— Shane Haff (@ShaneHaffNFL) October 29, 2024
This matchup with Jacksonville is too good to pass up. The Jags rank dead last in pass defense (DVOA) and they've allowed the third-most fantasy points to receivers who line up outside the hashes, which is where Brown does most of his damage.
The consensus around the industry is that Brown has the best matchup of any receiver in the league this week, yet right now, his rostership doesn't reflect that from what I can tell. I think he's a fine play for cash games, and pairing Brown with Hurts in tournaments will be something I will do a lot of this week, too.
Jalen Coker vs. NO ($5,200)
I'm not sure if I am destroying my credibility by recommending two players from the Panthers this week, as they have been one of the worst offenses in the league with Young at QB. But I'm going to do it anyway.
Coker had his best game of the season last week, hauling in four of six targets for 78 yards and a touchdown. With Diontae Johnson now in Baltimore, Adam Thielen still hurt, and Xavier Legette's status still up in the air for Sunday, Coker could emerge as the top target in the Carolina passing game.
The Saints have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing slot receivers this season, and Coker gets a 90-matchup grade from FTN this week as he should face the Saints nickel corner Alontae Taylor for most of the day. He's dirt cheap with a plus matchup and a whole lot of opportunity - sign me up!
Also Consider: Chris Olave ($7,100), Ladd McConkey ($6,400), Cedric Tillman ($6,100)
Week 9 FanDuel Tight Ends - NFL DFS Lineup Picks
T.J. Hockenson vs. IND ($5,600)
This is probably the first time all season that I have been excited and not annoyed that FanDuel has been including the Sunday night game on the main slate this season.
LETS GOOO!!! Minnesota #Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell says TJ Hockenson WILL NOT be on a snap count on Sunday against the Indianapolis #Colts pic.twitter.com/nVGVT6e8So
— Vikings Nation (@vikingsnationmn) October 30, 2024
Hockenson is a player we would normally expect to see up to around 7k, and he was regularly there last season. But he's priced down this week in his return to action, and with the word that he will not be limited in any way in terms of his snaps, I am all over this player in both cash and GPP formats.
Hockenson could be the missing piece for this Minnesota offense that helps propel them to a playoff berth in a year when many thought they would be rebuilding. And he couldn't come back to a better matchup than Indianapolis, as the Colts' pass defense ranks 26th (DVOA) and has allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Also Consider: Brock Bowers at CIN ($7,700), Sam LaPorta ($6,300)
