Running Back Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 10: Top Free Agent Adds Include Ray Davis, Jaylen Warren, Tyler Allgeier, Justice Hill

Ray Davis - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

As you read this week’s recommendations from the waiver wire, the planning process for Week 10 roster construction has begun. You have already navigated a collection of obstacles that have emerged through the first nine weeks of the regular season, and should now sustain your efforts to minimize the impact of additional injuries, underwhelming production, and other emerging developments.

The unwanted challenge of contending with bye weeks also continues which is destined to fuel interest in locating alternative options on the waiver wire. 20 teams will have their byes from Weeks 10-14. which includes four teams this week - Cleveland, Green Bay, Las Vegas, and Seattle. This ensures that anyone with Kenneth Walker III, Josh Jacobs, or Nick Chubb contained on their rosters will be required to avoid starting those backs.

This article will help you manage the impact of these challenges on your rosters by locating the most enticing options on this week's waiver wires. The majority of these recommendations remain available in over 40% of all Yahoo leagues and will be listed in three tiers. After you finish this breakdown on running backs, you can also find fantasy football waiver wire pickups at other positions. Good luck in your Week 10 matchups.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

Upcoming Bye Weeks Schedule

  • Week 10:  Cleveland, Green Bay, Las Vegas, Seattle
  • Week 11:  Arizona, Carolina, New York Giants, Tampa Bay
  • Week 12:  Atlanta, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, New Orleans, New York Jets
  • Week 14: Baltimore, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, New England, Washington

Tier 1: Front-Runners - Week 10 Waiver Wire Running Backs

Prioritize These Running Backs On Waiver Wires

Tier 1 - Frontrunners Team Rostered
Ray Davis Buffalo Bills 22%
Jaylen Warren Pittsburgh Steelers 42%
Tyler Allgeier Atlanta Falcons 39%
Zach Charbonnet Seattle Seahawks 48%
Justice Hill Baltimore Ravens 20%

Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills- 22% Rostered

James Cook continues to operate as the lead back for Buffalo. However, Ray Davis has become increasingly entrenched as the Bills’ RB2 since Week 6, which positions him to seize a sizable workload if Cook is unavailable for any reason.

Davis has secured a 29.3% snap share since Week 6 while accumulating 35 carries (8.8 per game) and 187 rushing yards (46.8 per game). He has also run 36 routes, collected all six of his targets, and generated 131 receiving yards.

That includes his numbers in Week 9, when Davis played on nine snaps, carried four times, and assembled 20 yards on the ground. Davis also ran three routes but accumulated a career-high 70 receiving yards, and generated a 63-yard touchdown.

Davis also performed effectively as Buffalo’s primary back in Week 6, when Cook was sidelined with a toe injury. Davis soared to third overall with a season-high 20 attempts, rose to eighth with a season-best 97 rushing yards, and finished 11th in rush percentage over expected (45) according to Next Gen Stats.

Davis is a valuable handcuff for anyone who has Cook contained on their rosters. All other managers can stash Davis this week, as he can provide RB2 production when he is functioning with an extensive workload.

Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers - 42% Rostered

Jaylen Warren was selected as an RB3 (ADP 90/RB28) during draft season. However, his usage and output during the initial weeks of the regular season prompted some fantasy managers to jettison him from their rosters.

Warren also contended with a knee issue that sidelined him in Weeks 4-5. However, Warren‘s numbers have been promising since he returned from his injury. Warren has secured a 45.0% snap share since Week 7. He has also averaged 10.5 attempts/45 rushing yards per game while averaging 4.3 yards per attempt. Warren has also accumulated five carries inside the red zone.

That is an encouraging development after Warren averaged just 4.7 carries/18 yards per game in Weeks 1-3 and registered one attempt inside the red zone. Warren was also limited to 1.7 targets/9.3 receiving yards per game in Weeks 1-3 but has averaged 2.0 targets/14.0 yards per game as a pass-catcher since Week 7.

Warren could share touches with both Najee Harris and Cordarrelle Patterson when the Steelers visit Washington on Sunday, versus a run defense yielding 142.3 yards per game. However, Warren has performed proficiently since his return, which should keep him involved with a favorable workload.

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons - 39% Rostered

Tyler Allgeier‘s standalone value has fluctuated during the regular season. However, Allgeier continues to function as a valuable handcuff for fantasy managers who have invested in Bijan Robinson.

Allgeier has secured a 30.1% snap share, which has risen to 33.1% since Week 4. Allgeier has also carried 74 times (8.2 per game), assembled 370 rushing yards (41.1 per game), and has averaged 5.0 yards per attempt since Week 1.

Allgeier has also accumulated 17 attempts inside the red zone, while 42.9% of his carries have been accumulated inside the 5-yard line according to Fantasy Points Data. Allgeier has also run 58 routes, collected all eight of his targets, and produced 57 yards as a receiving weapon.

That includes Allgeier’s usage and output when the Falcons hosted Dallas in Week 9. Allgeier played on 14 snaps, carried six times, generated 18 rushing yards, and produced his second touchdown of the season.

Allgeier has now carried 12+ times during two of his last four matchups while averaging 5.5 attempts per game during the remaining contests. However, the addition of Allgeier supplies you with a potential flex option if you are besieged with roster issues. He will also launch into an extensive workload during any absence by Robinson and would deliver RB1 production if that transpires.

Zach Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks - 48% Rostered

Zach Charbonnet's availability has increased by 10% during the past three weeks, even though he retains adjacency to an enormous workload in his role as Seattle’s RB2.

This cements Charbonnet among the most valuable handcuffs that can be obtained on waiver wires, as he will ascend into an integral role if Kenneth Walker is unavailable for any reason. This scenario transpired in Weeks 2 and 3 when Walker was impacted by an oblique injury. Charbonnet operated with a league-high 90.5% snap share while averaging 16.0 attempts/64.5 rushing yards/4.5 targets per game.

Charbonnet also led all running backs in routes run (62) while soaring to second in points per game (21.8) during that sequence. Charbonnet has operated with a 41.4% snap share since Week 4. He has also averaged 3.5 carries/12.0 rushing yards/3.2 targets per game since Walker has returned to the lineup.

That includes Charbonnet’s usage and production in Week 9 when he accumulated 23 snaps, five touches, and 33 total yards, including 25 yards as a pass-catcher.

Walker’s workload when he is unencumbered by injury prevents Charbonnet from capturing standalone value. However, Charbonnet will provide RB1 output during any matchup in which Walker is unavailable. Anyone who has Walker on their roster should be incentivized to secure Charbonnet this week.

Justice Hill, Baltimore Ravens - 20% Rostered

Justice Hill easily leads Baltimore’s backfield in every major receiving category, and his role as a pass-catcher has fueled his presence in this column throughout the season.

Hill has now attained a 44.9% snap share since Week 1. He has also run 127 routes while rising to fifth among all backs with a career-high 272 receiving yards. He is also 10th in receptions (25), 13th in targets (28), and second in yards per target (9.7).

That includes Hill’s numbers in Week 9, when he played on 19 snaps, ran 11 routes, captured all three of his targets, and eclipsed 40+ receiving yards for the fourth time this season (43). Hill also tied his season high with five carries, while assembling 15 yards on the ground.

Touches will be allocated to Keaton Mitchell when he re-emerges in Baltimore’s backfield rotation. However, Hill has performed effectively and should sustain his role as the Ravens’ pass-catching presence. This provides your incentive for adding Hill as a potential flex option if you construct rosters in PPR leagues.

Tier 2: In The Running - Week 10 Waiver Wire Running Backs

These Running Backs Could Become Assets For Your Rosters

Tier 2 - In The Running Team Rostered
Braelon Allen New York Jets 36%
Kimani Vidal Los Angeles Chargers 11%
Blake Corum Los Angeles Rams 16%
Issac Guerendo San Francisco 49ers 17%
Roschon Johnson Chicago Bears 13%

Braelon Allen, New York Jets - 36% Rostered

Braelon Allen's level of involvement in the Jets’ backfield rotation has been inconsistent throughout the initial nine weeks of the regular season. However, Allen’s immense talent remains unquestioned, and his placement among the league’s preeminent handcuffs has been unwavering.

Allen secured a 33.2% snap share from Weeks 2-4 while averaging 8.7 carries/40.7 rushing yards per game. He also exceeded Hall’s total in rushing yards during that three-game sequence (122/120) even though Hall played on more snaps (140/65), and accumulated 14 additional carries (40/26.)

Allen has operated with a 23.2% snap share since Week 5, including two games in which he failed to reach 20%. His averages have also declined to 5.2 attempts/13.2 rushing yards per game since Week 5. That includes Allen’s minimal involvement in Week 9, when he operated with a 29% snap share, carried four times, and manufactured nine yards.

Even though Allen’s erratic touch totals have eviscerated his standalone value, he remains a critical insurance policy for fantasy managers who have Hall contained on their rosters. Allen would vault into an extensive workload if Hall would be sidelined for any reason. He is also capable of delivering RB1 output if that scenario develops.

Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers - 8% Rostered

Kimani Vidal was inactive from Weeks 1-5 as J.K. Dobbins (59.9% snap share), and Gus Edwards (37.8% snap share), formed the Chargers’ backfield rotation.

However, Edwards sustained an ankle issue in Week 4 and was placed on injured reserve.  That elevated Vidal into his current role as the Chargers’ RB2, and he has now operated with a 21.4% snap share since Week 6.

Vidal has also accumulated 18 attempts (4.5 per game), 44 rushing yards (11 per game), and has carried three times inside the red zone. That includes Vidal's numbers in Week 9 when he played on 11 snaps while being limited to seven rushing yards with his five attempts. Vidal's workload has been modest. However, he should retain his current role even after Edwards returns due to Edwards' anemic average of 2.97 yards per attempt before his injury.

Dobbins averaged 9.8 yards per attempt in Weeks 1-2 before his efficiency declined significantly in Weeks 3-8 (3.2 yards per attempt). Dobbins' efficiency rose in Week 9 (6.1 per attempt) and his average of 15.8 attempts per game since Week 1 is easily the highest of his career.

Vidal remains positioned to seize an extensive workload if Dobbins becomes sidelined for any reason. That makes Vidal a viable handcuff if Dobbins is contained on your rosters. All other managers can also consider stashing him this week.

Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams - 16% Rostered

Blake Corum's current workload as the Rams’ RB2 behind does not provide standalone value if you add him this week. However, the potential for Corum to become a highly productive resource remains intact, due to his proximity to a massive workload Kyren Williams is unavailable.

Corum was relegated to minimal involvement from Weeks 1-4 while operating with a microscopic 3.4% snap share. However, Corum has now played on 24 snaps since Week 5, after catapulting  Ronnie Rivers on the Rams’ depth chart.

Corum has also accumulated 13 attempts (3.3 per game) and assembled 44 rushing yards (11 per game) during his last four matchups. Rivers has failed to register a snap, while Williams has operated with a league-high 90.8% snap share during that sequence.

Even though Corum’s recent usage has been modest, the massive workload that Sean McVay is entrusting to Williams (22.6 touches per game) would be reallocated if Williams is inactive for any reason. Corum is capable of providing RB2 output if that situation develops.

That should encourage you to secure Corum if you rely on Williams as your starter. Corum could also become a valuable asset for any other managers who are willing to stash him.

Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers - 17% Rostered
The rationale for infusing Isaac Guerendo into your rosters surrounds his proven ability to erupt for sizable yardage when he is operating in San Francisco’s backfield rotation.

Christian McCaffrey appears primed to re-merge when the 49ers travel to Tampa Bay on Sunday. Jordan Mason could also return from the shoulder injury that sidelined him after 11 snaps in Week 8.

However, Mason’s Week 8 departure vaulted Guerendo into his most extensive workload of the season (63% snap share). His impressive performance could compel Kyle Shanahan to keep Guerendo above Mason on the 49ers depth chart.

Guerendo maximized his opportunity by establishing season highs in attempts (14), and rushing yards (85). He also finished eighth in rush yards over expected per attempt (1.82) according to Next Gen Stats while producing his first career touchdown.

Guerendo also flourished while functioning as San Francisco’s primary back in  Week 6 after Mason sustained an ACL sprain. Guerendo exploded for 99 rushing yards on 10 carries while pacing all backs with an average of 9.9 yards per attempt.

Guerendo is worthy of consideration among this week’s options by anyone who has invested in McCaffrey. Guerendo can also be stashed by managers who are constructing rosters in deeper leagues.

Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears - 13% Rostered

Roschon Johnson has maintained a consistent presence in this column due to his uncontested role as Chicago’s RB2. Johnson does not lurk as a threat to D'Andre Swift's workload, as Swift has been operating with a 64.8% snap share.

However, Johnson remains an effective insurance policy for anyone who utilizes Swift in their lineups. Johnson has attained a 32.4% snap share since ascending into his current role during Week 3.

Johnson has also carried 35 times (5.8 per game), accrued eight attempts inside the red zone, and generated 108 rushing yards (18 per game) during his last six games. He has also run 68 routes, captured eight of his 11 targets, and assembled 65 yards as a receiving weapon.

That includes Johnson’s usage and output when Chicago visited Arizona in Week 9, as Johnson secured a 37.1% snap share, accumulated five touches, and assembled 21 total yards. Johnson’s numbers are not sufficient for you to deploy him as a starter, but he would operate with a sizable workload if Swift is forced to the sideline.

That provides your rationale for securing Johnson if Swift is on your rosters. You can also consider stashing him if you are managing rosters in deeper leagues.

Tier 3: Dark Horses - Week 10 Waiver Wire Running Backs

These Running Backs Could Emerge In Your Lineups

Tier 3- Dark Horses Team Rostered
Sean Tucker Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7%
Jaylen Wright Miami Dolphins 9%
Jonathon Brooks Carolina Panthers 64%
Trey Benson Arizona Cardinals 16%
Keaton Mitchell Baltimore Ravens 8%

Sean Tucker, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 7% Rostered

The distribution of touches within Tampa Bay‘s congested backfield places constraints on the production that any member of the three-man rotation can deliver.

Sean Tucker’s placement below Rachaad White and Bucky Irving on the Buccaneers' depth chart also destines him to operate with the lowest percentage of opportunities that are allocated between the trio of backs.

However, Tucker has proven that he is capable of erupting for sizable yardage if White or Irving is forced to the sideline. White was unavailable due to a foot injury in Week 6, which launched Tucker into a sizable workload. Tucker secured career highs in snap share (38%), and attempts (14), while erupting for a league-high 136 rushing yards, and assembling 56 yards as a receiving weapon.

Irving was contending with a toe injury in advance of Tampa Bay's Week 9 matchup with Kansas City. However, he ultimately played on 19 snaps, and led the Buccaneers in attempts (seven) and rushing  yards (24).

Tucker accumulated seven snaps. carried three times, and generated 11 rushing yards. White led the backfield with 34 snaps, carried three times, and assembled 19 yards on the ground.

Tucker remains capable of delivering favorable numbers if Irving is inactive. and can elevate into RB3/flex territory if White or Irving are unable to evade any additional health issues. This makes him an intriguing back to stash.

Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins - 8% Rostered

The incentive for adding Jaylen Wright to your rosters remains unchanged since the onset of the regular season. His placement below De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert on Miami’s depth chart impedes Wright from attaining favorable workloads unless Achane or Mostert are unavailable due to injury.

However, that challenging factor is offset by Wright’s ongoing potential to accumulate yardage and fantasy points if he is infused into a larger workload within the Dolphins’ backfield rotation.

Wright has operated with a 21.5% snap share since Week 1. He has also carried 42 times (6.0 per game) generating 208 rushing yards (29.7 per game) which includes his numbers in Week 9 (nine snaps/six carries/18 rushing yards). He has also reached an average of 6.6 yards per attempt during four of his matchups.

Wright's most prolific numbers were generated in Week 5 when Achane was sidelined after 11 snaps (concussion). That launched Wright into an expanded role, as he established season highs in carries (13), and rushing yards (86). He also rose to eighth overall in rush yards over expected (21) according to Next Gen Stats.

Wright’s home run capabilities can result in a statistical eruption if his role is expanded during any future matchup. He can also become a significant roster asset if that scenario develops.

Jonathon Brooks, Carolina Panthers - 64% Rostered

Jonathon Brooks’ availability is currently under 40% which is the usual requirement to be included in this column. However, the uncertainty surrounding Brooks’ prospects of being activated to the 53-man roster should end this week, which warrants incorporating him into the Tier 3 options.

Carolina opened the 21-day practice window for Brooks on October 16, and the Panthers will need to activate him by Wednesday (November 6). Otherwise, he will remain on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Brooks was the first running back to be selected during the 2024 NFL draft due to his enticing blend of speed, acceleration, and elusiveness. Carolina made that investment even though patience would be required before Brooks could display those attributes, due to the torn ACL that he sustained in November of 2023.

Brooks was a full participant during last week’s practices and could still make his NFL debut during Carolina's Week 10 matchup in Munich. His workload should be managed initially, as Chuba Hubbard sustains his role as the Panthers’ lead back.

However, Brooks could still secure a favorable workload within a timeline that provides fantasy managers with a viable asset. That supplies the rationale for stashing him this week.

Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals - 16% Rostered

Trey Benson emerged among the most intriguing members of this year’s rookie class during the offseason. His enticing blend of size, speed, and power seemingly destined him to secure a favorable workload as Arizona’s RB2 behind James Conner during his first season.

That has failed to transpire. However, the primary incentive for adding Benson surrounds his adjacency to a significant workload if Conner is unable to operate in his customary role as the Cardinals’ lead back.

Benson enters Week 10 with a 16,5% snap share and is second among Arizona backs in attempts (39/5.6 per game), and 154 rushing yards (22.0 per game).

Benson registered his second-highest snap share of the season in Week 9 (28%). He also accumulated nine touches, and 55 total yards, and generated his first touchdown of the season.

Benson will function as the Cardinals’ RB1 if the 29-year-old Conner is unable to elude health issues, even though Emari Demercado could pilfer a percentage of targets. That makes Benson a viable roster addition if Conner is contained on your roster. All other managers can stash him if you have sufficient space on our bench.

Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens - 8% Rostered

Keaton Mitchell has been included in this column since the Ravens opened his 21-day practice window. Now, his return to Baltimore’s backfield rotation appears imminent.

Mitchell practiced without restrictions leading up to the Ravens’ Week 9 matchup with Denver. That was the most recent step in his recovery from the torn ACL that he sustained during Week 15 of his 2023 rookie season.

Mitchell still has not been activated off injured reserve and remains within the aforementioned 21-day practice window for Baltimore to place him on the 53-man roster.

Mitchell exploded into relevance in Week 9 last season, as he stockpiled a league-high 138 rushing yards on nine attempts. That included two runs of 40+, while Mitchell easily paced all backs with an average of 15.3 yards per attempt.

Mitchell also finished 13th overall with 396 yards (57.1 per game) from Weeks 9-15 and eclipsed 6.0 yards per attempt in five of his six contests. Mitchell’s reemergence will not affect Derrick Henry's continued role as Baltimore’s primary back.

Justice Hill should also maintain his workload as the primary pass-catching back.  However, Mitchell infuses an additional level of explosiveness into the Ravens backfield, and should minimally operate as a flex option on your rosters.
