Quentin Johnston, the Chargers' wideout and second-year player from TCU, is slowly but surely making a name for himself. After a rough rookie ride in 2023, he’s been finding his groove in 2024, pulling down 14 receptions for 164 yards and three touchdowns over five games.
Not too shabby, especially considering the Chargers have been keeping it on the ground a lot this season while quarterback Justin Herbert has been battling his own share of injuries.
Johnston had a bit of a scare with an ankle tweak during their Week 6 face-off against the Denver Broncos. He's been tiptoeing around practice as a limited participant, so the big question is: will he lace up for Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints?

Quentin Johnston Fantasy Football Injury Update
While Johnston hasn't been the most consistent fantasy starter, it’s been refreshing to see him snagging passes and shedding that dreaded bust label from last year. However, don't get too excited as the Chargers’ air game has been less than stellar, with Herbert's arm only recently coming alive in Week 7 for a solid 349 yards passing.

As mentioned, Johnston was ruled out of the Chargers' Week 6 contest against the Denver Broncos after rolling his ankle and he would go on to miss the team's Week 7 matchup on Monday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals.
Quentin Johnston Fantasy Football Injury Impact
Even with Herbert’s lightning bolt of a right arm, the Chargers' passing game still feels like it’s got some cobwebs to clear. And while Johnston has had moments of brilliance, the reality is that the Chargers are winning with their legs and defense, not their passing attack.
Right now, Johnston leads the Chargers in yards per catch (12.9) and touchdown receptions (three) despite missing one game already.

So, if you're banking on Johnston for your fantasy lineup in Week 8, you might want to browse your bench or hit the waiver wire for a more reliable play, at least until the Chargers show they can keep their aerial show going.
