Fantasy football managers face tough weekly decisions, especially when players do not meet expectations.
One of these players, Michael Pittman Jr. of the Indianapolis Colts, has had an up-and-down season.
But before considering a drop, it is important to examine his recent performance and potential upside.

Should I Drop Michael Pittman Jr. in Fantasy Football?
Pittman is not a drop candidate right now, even though he has not delivered consistent WR1 numbers.
Over the past four games, he has scored nine or more points in each contest (PPR leagues). Three of those games were double-digit performances. While he has not been explosive, Pittman has shown a solid floor, making him a reliable WR2/WR3 depending on the matchup.
Pittman's target share was higher when veteran quarterback Joe Flacco filled in for an injured Anthony Richardson. Now that Richardson is back, Pittman must work on his chemistry with the QB.

The 27-year-old is one of the team's top targets and should see continued involvement, especially on deeper routes. His upcoming matchup versus the Houston Texans is favorable, as they allow the 10th-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.
Given the number of injured wide receivers across the league, it is hard to justify dropping Pittman unless you have a highly productive alternative.
Players like Nico Collins, DK Metcalf, Mike Evans, and Chris Olave are dealing with injuries, and dropping Pittman now could leave you scrambling for wide receiver depth.
There is a strong chance that if you drop him, another manager will grab him off the waiver wire quickly.
Who Should I Pickup in Week 8 Fantasy Football?
Holding onto Pittman is the better play unless you are in a bind. His steady production provides you with a stable option at WR2/WR3.
With no bye week until Week 14, you can depend on him throughout the fantasy season. Pittman's chemistry with his quarterback should improve with continued reps alongside Richardson, leading to more constant performances.

By the time his bye week rolls around, you will have a better grip on who to replace him with. Right now, if you have a different player to drop and are looking for wide receiver depth, check to see if Rashod Bateman, Romeo Doubs, Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Kalif Raymond are available.
