A time we never thought would come in the fantasy football landscape has arrived. There are conversations about whether one of the best quarterbacks of all time should be dropped, and it's not even because he is injured.
Patrick Mahomes has navigated injuries to key players to lead the Chiefs to an undefeated record, but it's not translating to fantasy football success.
While it might seem completely unfathomable, should fantasy managers drop Mahomes ahead of Week 8? Let's dive in and find out!

Should I Drop Patrick Mahomes in Fantasy Football?
Trevor Lawrence, Bo Nix, and Daniel Jones are some of the quarterbacks outscoring Mahomes in fantasy football this season. Any blind statistical comparison would lead to the conclusion that Mahomes is droppable. He leads the league in interceptions and has thrown more picks than touchdowns.
Patrick Mahomes and Peyton Manning (2015) are the only QBs in the last 30 years to throw more INT than TD while leading their teams to a 6-0 start
39-year-old Manning had 7 pass TD and 10 INT in his 6-0 start in 2015 — a season that ended in a Super Bowl 50 victory @NFLPlus

But his name carries a ton of weight and fantasy managers spent top draft capital on him. He's dead weight. Starting him is actively hurting fantasy rosters. Dropping him is nerve-wracking and will lead to another manager picking him up.
Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown are done for the season. JuJu Smith-Schuster is currently sidelined. Besides Travis Kelce, who is he going to throw to? It may not necessarily be a bad thing to let him go. If he's hurting another fantasy football roster, that helps you against the competition.
The smartest course of action is to trade him and get what you can. His name will entice fantasy managers across your league. Any asset in return is better than cutting him for nothing.
Who Should I Pickup in Week 8 Fantasy Football?
There are some intriguing names on the waiver wire for managers who only drafted Mahomes and are seeking quarterback help.
Tua Tagovailoa was released in many leagues when he went on injured reserve. He should return in Week 8. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De'Von Achane are waiting to be unleashed in the Miami offense again.
Sam Darnold was cut in several leagues ahead of his bye in Week 6. He's the QB15 in points per game and has one game under 15 fantasy points thus far.
Drake Maye scored 20 fantasy points in back-t0-back games, the first starts of his career. The matchups get significantly tougher with the Jets, Titans, and Bears on tap. His schedule does soften (Rams, Dolphins, Colts, Cardinals) after that.
