6 months agoNew England Patriots running back JaMycal Hasty lost two yards on two carries during Sunday's Week 7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. On a more positive note, he caught all five of his targets for 49 yards and one touchdown through the air. Hasty was one of the Patriots' most productive pass-catchers on Sunday, and he also led the backfield in total yards. Equally important was the snap distribution among the backfield, with Rhamondre Stevenson playing 30 snaps, JaMycal Hasty getting 20, and Antonio Gibson finishing with just 10. For the first time this season, Hasty out-snapped Gibson, and it's possible this trend continues after the former's productive outing on Sunday. With that said, Hasty isn't on the fantasy radar quite yet.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

7 months agoNew England Patriots running back JaMycal Hasty (knee) is officially active on Sunday for the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks, while wide receiver Kayshon Boutte is a healthy inactive. Hasty popped up on the team's injury report on Thursday after putting in a limited practice, but his knee injury wasn't serious enough to sideline him this weekend. The 28-year-old is well off the fantasy radar in the vast majority of fantasy leagues as the No. 3 RB behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson in one of the weaker offenses in the NFL. In the surprising Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Hasty had didn't touch the ball at all on offense. Boutte didn't play a single offensive snap last weekend and will now take a seat so that rookie Javon Baker can make his NFL debut after he was a healthy scratch in Week 1.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

7 months agoNew England Patriots running back JaMycal Hasty (knee) has officially been labeled as questionable ahead of the team's Week 2 matchup. The Pats will square off against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday in their home opener, coming off a surprising 16-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The 28-year-old popped up on the injury report this past Thursday and logged back-to-back limited sessions leading up to the weekend. Hasty did not receive a touch out of the backfield during Week 1 but was the only Patriot to return a kick in the win. If he were unable to play, rookie wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk would be set to get work on returns alongside backup running back Antonio Gibson. Additionally, New England could decide to sign or elevate another running back to the roster as insurance on game day, with just Gibson and Rhamondre Stevenson the only active players at the position.--Alex Ciulla

8 months agoNew England Patriots running back JaMycal Hasty rushed four times for 21 yards during Sunday's preseason finale against the Washington Commanders. He also caught all three of his targets for an additional 24 yards through the air. Hasty is expected to make the Patriots' roster and could carve out a receiving role alongside fellow pass-catching back Antonio Gibson. This backfield still belongs to Rhamondre Stevenson, but Hasty and Gibson will earn some opportunities, especially after the latest chatter that New England wants to get its running backs heavily involved on screen plays. With that said, Hasty is a depth option within a weak offense. He can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

8 months agoNew England Patriots running back JaMycal Hasty is pushing for the team's RB3 role leading up to the regular season. Hasty is buried behind Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, and Kevin Harris on the depth chart, but his skill set could lend well to New England's revamped offense. According to Hasty in an interview with reporters on Friday, Alex Van Pelt wants to be the best screen team in the NFL. He was also quoted as saying that AVP likes to "mix it up" and that he and the other RBs "run routes like the receivers do." It's an encouraging development that hopefully foreshadows a good amount of passing-game activity for the Patriot's running backs in 2024. The exact way touches will shake out here remains to be seen, but Stevenson will likely handle most of the work, with Gibson mixing in as a change of pace. The mystery is compounded further by the fact that we've yet to see what this offense is about. Hasty is Yahoo!'s RB118 and presents as little more than a late-round deep-league dart throw until this situation changes.--Alex Ciulla
