Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) has now missed two consecutive games with a high-ankle sprain that he picked up late in the Colts' Week 4 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Taylor will now have his third straight season of not being able to play 17 games.
The injury bug has hit him particularly hard -- he played in just 10 games in 2023 and 11 in 2021. His fantasy production has been hampered massively by his struggle with various ailments, and he's now rehabbing one again in an attempt to return to the field.
Will Jonathan Taylor play this week for the Indianapolis Colts?

Is Jonathan Taylor Playing in Week 7?
It doesn't look like it will happen. It's always frustrating for fantasy managers when teams don't give concrete updates on how much time players will miss. There have been mountains of literature and decades of precedent when it comes to dealing with sports injuries, and big sports leagues have invested significant money in researching them.

He detailed how painful and difficult the injury has been to deal with, and he didn't practice again this week on both Wednesday and Thursday. High-ankle sprains are typically 4-6 week injuries, and this will be the third game he'll miss due to this injury. Fantasy managers should keep their backup plans in place.
Any time a player gets a high-ankle sprain, managers should be prepared for them to miss six weeks. It's good to hope for the best while preparing for the worst.
Jonathan Taylor Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook
He has to be started when healthy, so if he does play, put him into your starting lineups. He's one of the few backs in the league with a genuine workhorse role, and he showed that he's clearly still a stud and one of the best running backs in the league through four weeks. He's a near-lock to crack double-digit fantasy points in his healthy games.

He's a big-play machine and gets the lion's share of touches in his backfield, and that's unlikely to change. Backup RBs Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson aren't close to his talent level and aren't major challenges to his role in the offense. When he plays, you start him if he's on your roster.
