The 2024 NFL season has seen no shortage of injures, meaning fantasy managers have had to navigate tough lineup decisions with their studs out of action. Our fantasy football injury reports for Week 7 as of October 17, 2024, will give managers the latest updates around the league.
Some of the banged-up players on this list are at more risk of missing this week's contests than others. Still, fantasy managers should pay close attention to the statuses of Nick Chubb, Joe Mixon, Jordan Mason, Aaron Jones, T.J. Hockenson, Deebo Samuel Sr., and more.

Nick Chubb Injury Update
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) was able to put in a full practice on Wednesday, signaling that he has a good chance at making his 2024 debut this Sunday against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. Jerome Ford (hamstring), who was injured in the Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, was a DNP on Wednesday, while D'Onta Foreman (groin) was limited. The Browns still must activate Chubb from the Physically Unable to Perform list before he's eligible to play, but that could be coming later this week as long as he doesn't suffer a setback on Thursday or Friday.

The 28-year-old required two surgeries for a serious left-knee injury he suffered in Week 2 last year, so fantasy managers may want to temper expectations for his productivity and workload right away. If Chubb plays this weekend, he'll be a risky RB3/flex, at best, for fantasy managers.
Joe Mixon Injury Update
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Mixon has been battling an ankle sprain for several weeks but he returned to the field in Week 6 against the New England Patriots without any limitations. As a veteran, it is not uncommon for Mixon to receive rest or limited practice participation in the middle of the week. When healthy, Mixon has been excellent in 2024. In two full games played, he has rushed for 261 yards and two touchdowns.

He has added 49 receiving yards and a touchdown in those games as well. The Texans seem intent on riding Mixon throughout the season which is great for fantasy managers provided he can stay healthy. Mixon will slot in as a high-end RB2 or low-end RB1 against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.
Jordan Mason Injury Update
San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday. Mason suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder during last week's win over the division-rival Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night in the first half. The 25-year-old attempted to return to the game to begin the second half but came out after one carry and never re-entered. The fact that he's practicing at all is a good thing, but it doesn't guarantee he'll be active for Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
Injury updates:
-- #Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) was a full participant, a very good sign.
-- #Patriots QB Drake Maye (knee) was a full participant.
-- #Steelers RB Najee Harris did not participant because of a ribs injury.
-- #49ers RB Jordan Mason (shoulder) was limited today.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 16, 2024
With Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) still on Injured Reserve, Mason has been a must-start RB1 in all fantasy leagues to this point. Rookie Isaac Guerendo was a popular waiver-wire pickup this week after going for 99 rushing yards on 10 carries after Mason left last week. He'll be a plug-and-play option at RB if Mason is out this weekend.
Aaron Jones Injury Update
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday, but he said he hopes to return to practice on Thursday. Jones said he felt his right hip bothering him before the Week 5 win over the New York Jets in London and it flared up on him during the game. Since then (the Vikings had a bye in Week 6), he's been receiving around-the-clock treatment and seems to be in good spirits as the team prepares for a Week 7 divisional showdown against the Detroit Lions this Sunday.

The 29-year-old should be considered questionable for this weekend after being pulled from the London game with his hip injury, and now he's being listed with a hamstring ailment. With Jones injured, Minnesota traded for Cam Akers on Tuesday. Both Akers and Ty Chandler could split the backfield if Jones isn't cleared for Week 7.
T.J. Hockenson Injury Update
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee) was again listed as a limited participant in the team's practice report. Technically, it's the veteran's second straight limited session, as he was designated as such in the final practice leading up to the team's Week 5 outing against the New York Jets. Whether or not he plays this week is uncertain; however, with his 21-day practice window set to close on Oct. 25, Minnesota must activate him soon lest they lose him for the remainder of the season.

Fortunately, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was optimistic when asked about him. "He's in a great spot," said O'Connell, "he's moving around great, but he's gotta get acclimated back into football a little bit." With Minnesota set to play their Week 8 matchup on Thursday Night Football, Hockenson's debut may be pushed back until then. We'll know more regarding his Sunday status over the next few days' practice designations.
Deebo Samuel Injury Update
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (wrist) got in a limited practice to kick off the week on Wednesday. The 28-year-old caught 3-of-5 targets for a team-leading 102 yards -- including a 76-yard touchdown -- in the 36-24 win over their division-rival Seahawks but left the contest briefly to get his hand checked out.
#49ers Wednesday anticipated participation:
DNP: K Jake Moody, K Matthew Wright, WR Jauan Jennings (hip), DT Maliek Collins (knee), DE Leonard Floyd (vet day)
Limited: RB Jordan Mason, S Malik Mustapha, WR Deebo Samuel (wrist), DT Jordan Elliott
Everyone else full go.

He would return to the game, but it appears the injury has lingered. Considering he was not ruled out from Week 6, it's likely that fantasy managers have little reason to be alarmed regarding his status for a pivotal Week 7 matchup against the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs. Still, his practice participation over the remainder of the week is worth tracking.
Travis Etienne Injury Update
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has been on a peculiar stretch of games lately; he saw his rushing workload scaled back in Week 5, and then he only registered three carries last Sunday in London.

While his reduced opportunities could be attributed to a new hamstring injury, it's also possible the Jaguars simply preferred Tank Bigsby or D'Ernest Johnson in certain scenarios against the Chicago Bears. As a result, Etienne has become tough to trust in fantasy football, even if the team gives him a clean bill of health. He's merely an RB3/FLEX play for Week 7.
Drake Maye Injury Update
New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye (knee) was able to put in a full practice on Wednesday after banging up his knee in his first career start in the Week 6 loss to the Houston Texans, but he went for an MRI exam after practice. It's something to watch for fantasy managers in superflex, two-QB leagues as the Patriots prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London this Sunday. In the 22-year-old's first NFL start, he went 20-for-33 for 243 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, adding five carries for 38 yards and a lost fumble.
I’m told Drake Maye went for an MRI after practice today. Something to watch this week https://t.co/F5Rtg7KZED
— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) October 16, 2024
It obviously was an up-and-down performance, but Maye certainly gives fantasy managers in two-QB leagues much more upside than Jacoby Brissett. And in a fantastic Week 7 matchup against the one-win Jags, Maye will definitely have some QB2 upside if he's able to suit up.
Evan Engram Injury Update
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. The 30-year-old's appearance on the injury report is not surprising given that he was sidelined from Week 2 through Week 5 with a hamstring issue.

He did return to the mix last weekend and was one of the Jaguars' lone bright spots, catching all 10 of his targets for 102 yards despite playing just 61 percent of offensive snaps. Engram is a productive, high-volume weapon who ranks as a solid fantasy TE1 going forward.
Tucker Kraft Injury Update
Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft (groin) was listed as limited in the team's first practice of the week. Kraft popped up on Green Bay's injury report last Thursday with a groin injury, logging two limited sessions before suiting up for the Packers' Week 6 win over the Cardinals. The 23-year-old played a full complement of snaps (82%), though he disappointed with his performance, catching 2-of-4 targets for just 13 yards -- a season-low output -- as is the case sometimes in a deep Rolodex of competent Packers' skill players.
#Packers coach Matt LaFleur with today's practice report:
Limited: Jaire Alexander, Kenny Clark, Tucker Kraft, Josh Myers, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks.
DNP: Colby Wooden, Devonte Wyatt, Elgton Jenkins.— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) October 16, 2024
However, his designation for the following two practices will be telling about his status ahead of Week 7's home tilt against the Houston Texans. If Kraft plays, he could be in store for a busy day with a litany of Packers' wideouts dinged up this week. If he can't, tight end Ben Sims would likely handle most of the TE duties with Luke Musgrave (ankle) on injured reserve.
