Emiliano Grillo A Risky Proposition At TPC Summerlin
6 months agoEmiliano Grillo will be a tricky roster choice for the golf community this week. The 31-year-old Argentinian made his fall-swing debut in style last week, gaining over two strokes on approach and close to six strokes putting en route to a T11 finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Approach and putting will be the keys to success again this week, so fantasy managers will need to decide if that performance was simply a spike putting week or if he made some flat-stick adjustments since the end of last season. Course history certainly points to a fade this week, as he's missed the cut in two of his last five starts here, with no finishes better than T34. Grillo profiles as a coin flip at the 2024 Shriners Children's Open, with a missed cut and a top-10 finish both appearing to be in the range of outcomes this week.

Emiliano Grillo Looks To Bounce Back At American Express
3 months agoEmiliano Grillo missed the cut in his first start of the 2025 season at last week's Sony Open. He will look to put that behind him and focus on preparing for this week's American Express in Palm Springs, California. Grillo has had mixed results at this tournament in the past, missing the cut in 2023, finishing T63 in 2022, and T37 in 2021. It's worth noting that at last year's American Express, over 33% of approach shots came from 150-200 yards. Over the past 12 months, Grillo ranks in the 93rd percentile in proximity to the hole on approach shots from this distance from the fairway. Considering Grillo's performance last week and his inconsistent results at the American Express, including him in DFS lineups this week may come with some risk.

Emiliano Grillo Has Plenty To Play For At Wyndham
8 months agoEmiliano Grillo is firmly on the bubble to qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship next week. The 31-year-old Argentinian is currently sitting at number 68 in the FedExCup standings, just two spots away from being disqualified from keeping his season alive next week. Statistically, the two-time Tour winner looks to be a solid course fit for Sedgefield, as he ranks inside of the top-50 golfers in driving accuracy, approach play, greens-in-regulation, and strokes gained on par 4 holes between 400-450 yards over the last 24 rounds. However, those stats have failed to produce any significant results recently, as he's failed to post a top-20 finish in his last 13 starts dating back to May. Fantasy managers will likely get an ownership discount on Grillo at the Wyndham Championship, but it may be wise to pivot to golfers with higher upside and stronger recent form.

Emiliano Grillo Looking To Bounce Back At RBC Heritage
12 months agoIt was a messy two days at The Masters for Emiliano Grillo to say the least. An uncharacteristically putrid performance losing an average of nearly three shots off the tee made everything else impossible for the Argentinian. It was so bad, that it feels almost impossible to have anything close to the same outcome this week given that he has notoriously been one of the straightest hitters on tour for quite a while now (currently ranked 27th in driving accuracy). The cold putter at ANGC (-1.67 strokes lost putting) could have been the aftermath of the poor play getting to the green, and he has historically performed better with the putter at Harbour Town than at Augusta National. There is certainly risk to take on with Grillo at $8,100 on FanDuel, but those willing to do it should expect a much better performance than what we saw a few days ago.

Emiliano Grillo Offers Upside At The Players Championship
1 year agoEmiliano Grillo is off to a solid start this season and continues to reward fantasy managers choosing to roster him over the last few months. The 31-year-old Argentinian enters the week on the heels of eight consecutive made cuts, and he's posted six top-25 finishes in just 12 starts so far this season, including a T8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week. Grillo has missed three consecutive cuts at TPC Sawgrass, but course history here is one of the least predictive on Tour and he's undoubtedly entering this week in much better form than in years past. He's shown significant recent improvement in his ball-striking, and he's gained strokes putting in seven of his last eight events. If Grillo can have even an average around-the-green game this week, he should find himself toward the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday, which would more than pay off his $7,400 DraftKings salary.
