Wide Receiver Matchups to Target in Week 6: Jayden Reed, Zay Flowers, Drake London, Jalen Tolbert

Welcome to our WR Matchups to Target column, Week 6 edition. Last week’s picks stayed hot with two “in the money” picks (DraftKings points totaling three times a player’s DK salary) in Brian Thomas Jr. and Josh Downs. That brings our total to eight home run picks so far this season.

Each week we will use matchup data from PFF to determine wide receivers to target based on who they will be primarily lining up against that week. These are players more likely to return a 3x multiplier on their DraftKings salary, a benchmark for consistently winning DFS cash games. 

Below are five of the top WR vs. CB matchups for this week’s DFS main slate. Use these to set season-long lineups, make player prop picks, and gain an edge in DFS.

Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers

$7,000 on DraftKings, $7,700 on FanDuel; vs. Kei'Trel Clark

Reed has emerged as the top receiver in Green Bay’s explosive offense with Jordan Love under center. Reed is fifth in the NFL in receiving yards and the WR6 in fantasy points per game thus far while leading all starting slot receivers in both yards after the catch per reception and yards per route run.

He has a lucrative matchup against the Cardinals this week, PFF’s easiest matchup for receivers. His primary matchup is opposite CB Kei'Trel Clark, who gives up the most targets and fantasy points per route run among starting corners.

The Cards have used zone coverage 69% of the time this year. Reed has been the league’s most efficient fantasy receiver against zone this season, leading all wideouts with at least 25 snaps in both fantasy points per route run (0.75) and yards per route run (4.57).

Reed is a high-ceiling play for DFS this week.

Drake London, Atlanta Falcons

$6,700 on DraftKings, $7,400 on FanDuel; vs. Mike Jackson

London is enjoying a true breakout with Kirk Cousins under center this season. After finishing as the WR42 and WR43 in fantasy points per game over his first two seasons, London enters Week 6 as the WR9 in that category this year. 

London is third among receivers in receptions and fifth in red zone targets which has helped him catch three touchdowns already this year. His career high for touchdowns in a season is four.

Atlanta faces off against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, who rank as the third-worst team in pass defense DVOA. The Panthers play a heavy amount of zone coverage (74% of the time), against which London owns a 30% target rate this year. 

London has the 12th-highest DraftKings salary among receivers in Week 6 despite top-five upside. Start him with confidence.

Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens

$6,500 on DraftKings, $7,200 on FanDuel; vs. Noah Igbinoghene

Flowers has been a target hog for the Ravens this season, totaling 10 or more targets in three of his five games. Despite leading his team in receiving, he has yet to finish within the top 10 in fantasy points any week this year.

That is likely to change this week in a matchup with the Commanders. Washington is the fourth-best matchup for receivers according to PFF. They give up the most fantasy points to opposing leading receivers while coming in sixth-worst in pass defense DVOA.

With Washington’s top corner Benjamin St-Juste primarily shadowing opposing X receivers, Flowers will take nearly all of his snaps against Mike Sainristil (55.4 PFF defensive grade) and slot corner Noah Igbinoghene (54.4 defensive grade).

The Commanders deploy zone coverage at a top-12 rate. Flowers has been significantly more effective against zone this season than against man, leading the Ravens in target rate (23.1%) and fantasy points per route run rate (0.39) versus zone while ranking below average in those categories when against man.

Flowers is a great bet to top his 54.5 receiving yardage over/under and provide value in DFS this week.

Jalen Tolbert, Dallas Cowboys

$5,000 on DraftKings, $6,100 on FanDuel; vs. Terrion Arnold

Tolbert has over-delivered for the Cowboys so far this season and has a great chance for that to continue with Brandin Cooks being put on IR. The third-year receiver is 20 yards and three catches away from topping his entire receiving output from last year.

Tolbert enjoyed his best game of the season last week with Cooks out, finishing as the WR12 with a 90% snap share that resulted in 10 targets (3 in the red zone) for 87 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys have a game against the Lions next, who are giving up the second-most DraftKings points to opposing receivers this year. Tolbert has lined up on the outside 71% of the time this season and will match up most often against CB Terrion Arnold. Arnold ranks fourth-worst among all starting CBs in PFF coverage grade (47.5). 

In what is expected to be a high-scoring affair with a 52-point over/under, Tolbert is a high-ceiling play in Week 6.

Jalen Tolbert had a 25% first-read target share, tying Jake Ferguson, with CeeDee Lamb at 21.4% in Week 5.

In Weeks 1-4, Tolbert was 4th on the team at 14.2% behind Brandin Cooks (16%), Ferguson (20%), & Lamb (25.5%)

Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals

$4,600 on DraftKings, $5,900 on FanDuel; vs. Eric Stokes

Wilson has been an involved part of an exciting Cardinals offense in recent weeks, averaging 7.3 targets and 5.3 receptions over his last three contests while tallying an 18.8% target share.

The Cardinals face off against the Packers this week. Wilson has excellent home run potential in Week 6, with the second-best overall matchup grade for any WR according to PFF. The Packers are 8th-worst in fantasy points against receivers.

Green Bay lines up in zone coverage 68% of the time. Wilson is a top-35 receiver (minimum of 25 routes) in fantasy points per route run (0.40) versus zone, the highest among Cardinals pass catchers. He will line up opposite CB Eric Stokes and his 52.7 PFF coverage grade.

As the 41st receiver by DraftKings price this week, Wilson is a great value with a high floor for cash games.
