Fantasy Football Injury Reports For Week 6 (Friday Updates): Jonathan Taylor, James Cook, Malik Nabers, Joe Mixon, more

Jonathan Taylor - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

The injury bug continues to strike heading into Week 6. There are plenty of key injuries to monitor before Sunday's kickoff, with some injury situations already concluded as of today. Our injury updates and reports for Week 6 as of Friday, October 11, 2024, will give you the latest updates on key guys.

As always, some players have more "real" risk of missing Week 6 than others, but things can change quickly before Sunday, so it's important to stay up to date. Jonathan Taylor, James Cook, Malik Nabers, and Joe Mixon are just some of the key players with important injury updates. Fantasy managers should be ready to pivot if they have any of the players discussed in this article.

To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news. Let's look at the updates for some top fantasy assets at all positions and see whether they may play in Week 6.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

Jonathan Taylor Injury Update

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) has officially been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with the Tennessee Titans. The Colts offense in general is banged up, so missing out on Taylor could be a big blow against the Titans, who have a much better defense than last week's opponent the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Trey Sermon should fill in for Taylor once again after a solid outing last week. He put up 38 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts and 25 receiving yards on six catches. Sermon didn't practice Wednesday due to a collarbone injury, but after two straight full practices, is officially off the injury report and should be ready to go on Sunday.

James Cook Injury Update

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook (toe) has not practiced this week and is currently listed as questionable for Monday night against the New York Jets. Cook has another chance to practice tomorrow given the Bills play on Monday rather than Sunday, but that also means it will be risky for fantasy managers to wait on Cook past Sunday.

With the exception of having Ray Davis ready to go as a handcuff or any other player from the Bills or Jets, fantasy managers may have to take Cook out of lineups well before his 8:15 p.m. kickoff on Monday night.

Malik Nabers Injury Update

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (concussion) has officially been ruled out for the second straight week. The rookie receiver landed on his head hard two weeks ago, and with the second straight game missed, this concussion seems to be worse than the average one.

In his absence, Daniel Jones should once again rely on Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton against a suspect Bengals secondary. Both receivers were great in fantasy last week against the Seattle Seahawks, with Robinson putting up six catches for 36 yards and a touchdown, and Slayton leading the team with eight catches for 122 yards, and adding a receiving touchdown of his own.

Joe Mixon Injury Update

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) is officially listed as questionable heading into Sunday's matchup with the New England Patriots after two straight limited practices. Mixon has been out ever since leaving the game early in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.

Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale served as replacments for Mixon the past few weeks with actual backup Dameon Pierce also out with injury. Pierce practiced fully the last two days and has no injury designation, but despite that, Joe Mixon is expected to return this week.

Mixon had 159 yards on 30 attempts in Week 1, so he will look to get back to that level as quickly as possible.

Rachaad White Injury Update

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White (foot) is officially listed as doubtful heading into Sunday's matchup with the New Orleans Saints. After not practicing the last two days, it looks unlikely White will suit up against his division rival. Rookie running back Bucky Irving will look to fill the void.

Irving seems like a good start as a potential RB2/flex this week given how he has looked in limited action. The rookie back has averaged 5.6 yards per carry and 5.8 yards per reception, showing flashes of his potential. It will be interesting to see how he fares in a larger role against a solid Saints defense.

Rhamondre Stevenson Injury Update

New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) has been ruled out for Week 6 against the Houston Texans. This doesn't come as too much of a surprise given Stevenson didn't practice all week. Antonio Gibson should get the nod for the full-time work horse role in Stevenson's absence.

Given Gibson's versatility out of the backfield, he should serve has a fantasy RB2. The Patriots offense has been one of the worst in the NFL so far this season, so the injection of both Gibson and rookie quarterback Drake Maye could mean a drastically different looking offense on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether that will be a good thing or a bad thing.

Brian Robinson Jr. Injury Update

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. (knee) has not practiced all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. With Jayden Daniels at the helm, the Commanders offense has thrived, and Robinson Jr. has been a massive benefactor of that improvement. The Commanders would miss him in an important game against the Ravens if he were to miss out.

Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols would be options to step up, with Ekeler likely receiving a higher share of backfield touches. The veteran running back should serve as an RB2 this week given his pass-catching prowess and how thin the running back position seems to be this week.

Diontae Johnson Injury Update

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Diontae Johnson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons after limited participation in practice all week. Johnson has been great since Andy Dalton took over at quarterback, so him missing this week's game would be a huge blow both to the Panthers and Johnson fantasy managers.

Johnson had just 23 yards in Week 5 against the elite Chicago Bears secondary, but after combining for 15 catches and over 200 yards in Week 3 and Week 4, the former Steeler will look to get back on track this week as an elite fantasy receiver despite the injury.

Devin Singletary Injury Update

New York Giants running back Devin Singletary (groin) was limited in practice all week, and is officially questionable for Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. The veteran running back missed last week, and his replacement Tyrone Tracy Jr., a fifth-round pick, was great in relief.

Even if Singletary does return, he is likely a risky play due to the emergence of Tracy Jr. and the potential for a timeshare. Singletary at best seems to be a flex until his role is made more clear. If he were to miss the game, Tracy Jr. seems like an RB2 option, although it will likely be difficult for him to match his 129 rushing yards from Week 5.

Evan Engram Injury Update

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) could be back this week against the Chicago Bears after being out since Week 1. He is officially listed as questionable after limited practices all week.

The Jaguars offense started out rough, but has picked things up a bit, led by Brian Thomas Jr. and Christian Kirk. It may take time for Engram to get reacclimated, but given the volatility of the tight end position in fantasy, if Engram plays, his fantasy managers should be starting him. The Bears are a tough matchup for receivers, so Engram could be heavily relied on immediately as well.

Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs Injury Updates

Indianapolis Colts receivers Michael Pittman Jr. (back) and Josh Downs (toe) are each listed as questionable for their Week 6 matchup with the Tennessee Titans. Each didn't practice earlier in the week, but suddenly both fully practiced Friday, drastically increasing their chances of playing on Sunday.

There were rumors at one point that Pittman Jr. might go on IR, but apparently he plans to play through the injury, which could be considered both good news and bad news for his fantasy managers.

Josh Downs will look to fight through injury as well and build on his 17 receptions in the last two games. The Titans serve as a tough matchup for receivers, but both serve as decent starting options still. Young starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is questionable but seems poised to return after practicing fully on Thursday, which could be viewed as either a positive or negative given his early struggles but high potential as the third overall pick from a year ago.

Wide Receiver Sleepers, Risers, Fantasy Football Breakouts - Targets, Air Yards, Snaps Trends Analysis For Week 6 (2024)

Targets are paramount when it comes to evaluating pass-catchers for fantasy football. There are no air yards, receiving yards, receptions, or touchdowns without first earning a target. There’s a reason the biggest and most consistent target-earners are among the top fantasy point scorers: they can be relied on by not just their team’s offense to […]

Welcome back to my potential fantasy football busts for Week 6 of the 2024 season! There are disappointments and clear busts. Breece Hall is the perfect example. Fantasy managers are fed up with the Jets running back after back-to-back duds. He's the RB13 overall. Disappointing, especially given the draft capital, but not a bust (ala […]

The NFL season marches forward, and another week of football is upon us. We have done pretty well correctly identifying boom/bust plays so far. Week 5, however, was not kind to us.
