1 month agoDetroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has had a slow start to his sophomore season and will look to get back on track against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6. The 23-year-old's best game of the season was a modest four receptions for 53 yards in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks. He's logged 12 catches for 147 yards and remains without a touchdown after four games. After a needed bye week to rest a nagging ankle injury, LaPorta looks to return to his rookie-season form. The Cowboys' defense, which is middle-of-the-road against allowed tight ends, has allowed 1.2 passing touchdowns per game this season and is ranked 14th in fantasy points allowed to the position in 2024. LaPorta's target share could be affected by the Lions' likely leaning on their run game against a vulnerable Cowboys run defense. However, his status as a must-start remains, given his breakout potential and the shortage of reliable fantasy tight ends.
