Chris Kirk Getting Some Holes In At Black Desert
6 months agoChris Kirk has not played since Labor Day weekend. The American golfer will make his return at the Black Desert golf course this week as the Black Desert Championship debuts. Kirk opened his 2024 year with a win at The Sentry. He netted a third Top 10 at the BMW Championship but faltered at the Tour Championship (finishing T-27th). Overall putting and approaches for Kirk are slightly below average. Greens in regulation are at 65.02% which ranks 122nd. The 7.288-yard Utah course seems to favor those who can get on the greens without much issue. If Kirk can work out the rust, he could be a reasonable DFS option this week.

Chris Kirk Sputters At The Sentry
3 months agoChris Kirk finished T44 at last week's The Sentry, losing strokes in nearly every category except for around the green and off the tee. He will now focus on preparing for this week's Sony Open at Waialae Country Club. Kirk has a strong history at this tournament, having finished T18 in 2024, third in 2023, and T27 in 2022. An important point to note is that over the past 12 months, Kirk ranks in the 67th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because, at last year's Sony Open, over 49% of approach shots came from this distance. Despite his performance at The Sentry, Kirk's past successes at the Sony Open could make him a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.

Chris Kirk Starts 2025 Defending The Sentry Title
3 months agoChris Kirk had one of his best seasons last year, finishing tied for 27th in the FedEx Cup standings. He will kick off the 2025 season at The Plantation Course for The Sentry. Last year, Kirk emerged as the champion and will be looking to defend his title. Notably, over the past 12 months, Kirk has ranked in the 89th percentile in proximity to the hole on approach shots from 50 to 100 yards in the fairway. This is particularly important because more than 19% of approach shots at last year's The Sentry came from this distance. Given his past performance at The Plantation Course, Kirk could be a strong addition to DFS lineups this week.

Chris Kirk A Safe Option For RBC Heritage
12 months agoChris Kirk should be one of the safest options on the board this week. The 38-year-old PGA Tour veteran has made the has made the cut in eight out of nine starts so far this calendar year, including his sixth Tour victory at The Sentry in January to go along with five additional top-30 finishes. He played well at the Masters last week, gaining over five strokes to the field en route to a T16 finish. Kirk should also put himself in solid positions at a course that requires precision off the tee, as he ranks 18th in driving accuracy and seventh in good drive percentage over the last 24 rounds, and he's capable of spike rounds with his irons and putter on any given week. He missed the cut in two of his last four RBC Heritage starts, but he did notch T7 here back in 2021. Kirk's recent form and win equity should be coveted by fantasy managers this week and could handsomely reward managers choosing to invest at his $7,700 DraftKings salary.

Chris Kirk Could Be One To Watch At Augusta
12 months agoChris Kirk can make birdies as his -29 suggests from The Sentry. That win has been followed up by consistent results (only one missed cut). The American golfer has finished inside the Top 50 in every event he played the weekend. Kirk needs to get the putter going early (148th in strokes gained putting). His putts per round are higher early and late in tournaments (73rd and 76th respectively). Kirk drives the ball at 294.4 yards which is less than ideal on a 7,555 yard Par-72 layout. His fortunes could simply come down to keeping the ball in play and making putts.
