In one of the more curious developments of the 2024 season, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs was suspended for the Packers' Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams. It was the first such incident in his career.
Doubs isn't known for suspensions, so the situation likely confused many fantasy managers and NFL fans alike. Doubs hadn't done much unrelated to football to get himself in the news at all up to this point.
So why did Doubs get suspended for Week 5? Will he play in Week 6?

Why Was Romeo Doubs Suspended?
The third-year pro was reportedly disgruntled with his usage in the Packers passing offense and skipped practices as a result. Of course, it's not acceptable to teams for players to skip practices at their leisure. Practices are crucial to preparing for upcoming games, and NFL offenses are highly complex. Everyone needs to be on the same page.
"The Romeo Doubs situation is really interesting for a few reasons..
He was there Wednesday but he didn't show up on Thursday or Friday..
He decided to stay away for a couple days & I don't know if he was particular thrilled about the amount of passes that went his way"… pic.twitter.com/nWidQbWoMr

Perhaps the suspension served to avoid any potential missteps in the game plan due to his unpreparedness in addition to punishing him. His pay was withheld due to the suspension, and each check is important for players on rookie contracts.
Romeo Doubs has been consistently productive & at times a go-to target since #Packers drafted him in 2022
During interviews humble, soft spoken, & a team first mindset which made #87's suspension that much more shocking

Many reports stated the absence was "shocking," but the organization has discussed the situation with Doubs. Head coach Matt LaFleur indicated that the problem is in the past and that he's "looking forward" to his return to practice.
