Is Khalil Shakir Hurt or Healthy? Fantasy Football Injury Update

Khalil Shakir - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Is Khalil Shakir hurt or healthy? Is Khalil Shakir playing in Week 5? Read the latest Khalil Shakir fantasy football injury updates and outlook.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir is one fantasy football sleeper who's lived up to the hype for managers this year. Shakir has double-digit PPR fantasy points in all four of his games this season and ranks as the WR20 in PPR scoring. Not bad for someone drafted in the very late rounds or not at all in most drafts.

Shakir has been the Bills' most consistent receiver, and it'll probably stay that way for a while. Rookie WR Keon Coleman has already been disciplined for behavior outside of games by the Bills, Mack Hollins isn't good, and veteran Curtis Samuel has less than half the targets that Shakir does.

It is concerning, then, that Shakir is on the injury report now. Is he hurt or healthy and will he suit up in Week 5 when the Bills face the Houston Texans?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Khalil Shakir Injury Update for Fantasy Football

The Bills breakout receiver is suffering from ankle soreness. His ankle was hurt in the classic ankle-gets-rolled-while-foot-pinned-underneath-body fashion, which is commonplace in a sport where making guys who are running stop running by lowering them until they are on the ground is a way of life.

Shakir had his ankle tended to by the medical staff and got it taped up before returning to and finishing the game. His drive couldn't be questioned in the losing effort against the Baltimore Ravens, and hopefully, he didn't make it worse by continuing to play.

His injury isn't seen as serious, though. He could've suffered a mild low ankle sprain, and he isn't expected to miss games.

This is one to keep an eye on, though. Ankle injuries are always tricky. Be sure to check back for updates, and be prepared to check just before game time if he has a questionable designation.

Khalil Shakir Fantasy Football Outlook

For his ADP, Shakir is performing admirably. To get anything out of the final few rounds of fantasy drafts should be considered the results of a successful effort. Shakir is startable in leagues with 12 or more teams as a WR3/flex player. He's in a great offense with a great quarterback and is the clear priority target.

He has excellent short-area quickness and an ability to get open as well as diagnose coverages and excel in busted plays. He's the real deal and the most reliable option in a Bills offense mostly devoid of good receiving talent. Lock him into your WR3/flex spots in 12+ team leagues.
