Chandler Phillips A Wild Card At Sanderson Farms Championship
2 months agoLike most PGA Tour rookies, Chandler Phillips had his share of ups and downs throughout last season. The 27-year-old Texas A&M alum competed in 20 events as a rookie, and 50% of the time he either missed the cut or finished inside of the top-25. It's been tough to get an accurate gauge on his strengths and weaknesses as a golfer, but he does rank in the top third in the field a number of statistical categories that will be keys to success this week, including approach play between 100-125 and 200+ yards, birdie-or-better percentage and par 5 scoring. Phillips did post a T24 finish at the Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta, widely regarded as a strong comparable course, and he did finish T13 at the Procore Championship to kick off the season two weeks ago. Phillips profiles as a coin flip this week, as another missed cut or a top-10 finish are both entirely within his range of outcomes at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
