Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is one of the most talented running backs in the NFL. The former Wisconsin star is the RB6 over the first month, averaging 17.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
While he is one of the top running backs in fantasy football, Taylor has struggled with injuries over the past few years. The superstar missed six games in 2022 and seven games last season.
Unfortunately, Taylor left yesterday’s 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with an injury. How long will he be out of the lineup?

Is Jonathan Taylor Hurt Or Healthy?
Taylor suffered a high-ankle sprain late in yesterday’s win over the Steelers. The superstar has struggled with ankle sprains in his career, needing significant surgery during the 2022 season that limited him at the start of last year.
The Colts will do additional testing on Taylor’s ankle today. However, his high-ankle sprain is believed to be minor, meaning the veteran shouldn’t miss significant time. Yet, fantasy players should expect to be without the former Wisconsin star for at least the Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Waiver Wire Replacement Options For Jonathan Taylor
Trey Sermon is Indianapolis’ No. 2 running back, meaning he will be a popular waiver wire target this week. He has barely played this season, totaling nine rushing attempts for 24 yards and a touchdown, including five attempts for eight yards in Week 5.
Welp, this season keeps taking stars from us
Trey Sermon played 16 snaps today and had 5 carries - he is next in line and will be a waiver wire priority this week https://t.co/HcnNBDA0gO

The veteran backup is rostered in only 1% of Yahoo leagues. Yet, Sermon should be the top addition off the waiver wire this week. Last year, Zack Moss was productive filling in for Taylor as the Colts’ lead running back. More importantly, Sermon’s Week 5 matchup is fantasy-friendly.
Jacksonville has surrendered 24.4 fantasy points per game to running backs this season, one of the highest totals in the NFL. They have given up 58.1 fantasy points to running backs over the past two weeks.
