Brendan Rodgers Scratched From Saturday's Lineup With Left Hamstring Soreness
2 months agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers was scratched from Saturday's starting lineup with left hamstring soreness according to the team. Aaron Schunk is set to start at second base in his place and will bat eighth. Rodgers missed all of Colorado's series against the St. Louis Cardinals earlier this week with hamstring soreness, making this lingering issue a problem as the Rockies finish their season. With only one game left in the season it may not be surprising to see the Rockies rest the 28-year-old and give Schunk more chances to prove himself at the major league level. Rodgers has been decent but not overwhelming at the plate in 2024, hitting for a 94 OPS+. It's a step up from his 82 OPS+ he posted in 2023 but isn't quite the level that the Rockies expected out of him when he started getting consistent playing time in 2021. If he is to miss Sunday's game, expect Schunk to pick up more time at second in his place. Schunk has performed very strong over the past week, posting four multi-hit games in his last four starts and has at least one hit in his last seven starts. He may make a sneaky option for DFS players against Dodgers' scheduled starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
