Should I Drop Ray Davis? Fantasy Football Outlook

Ray Davis - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should I drop Ray Davis for fantasy football Week 4? Is Ray Davis a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis was a popular sleeper candidate during the preseason. Many fantasy players drafted him with one of their final picks, hoping he could earn a role in the backfield behind James Cook.

The Bills have used Josh Allen as their goal-line running back for the past few years. Fantasy players hoped the rookie running back would take over that role in 2024.

Unfortunately, Davis hasn’t had a consistent role on offense. Allen continues to get work in the run game. Meanwhile, Cook is having a career year. Is it time for fantasy players to drop Davis in redraft leagues?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Ray Davis?

The former Kentucky star was one of my favorite running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had much fantasy success to start his career. Davis is the RB46, averaging 5.1 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

However, he has earned 19 rushing attempts for 64 yards and a touchdown over the first three weeks. Furthermore, Davis has three receptions for 14 yards this year.

While the rookie could earn more work as the season progresses, fantasy players can drop Davis for a better running back on the waiver wire. The only exception is for fantasy players with Cook on their roster. Davis is Cook’s handcuff and would have top-20 value if the third-year star misses time with an injury.

Who Can I Add Off The Waiver Wire?

One potential waiver wire target fantasy players should scoop up immediately is Bucky Irving. The rookie running back has earned more playing with his recent play. Furthermore, he could cut into Rachaad White’s role on the ground, averaging 4.1 more yards per rushing attempt than the veteran this season.

The rookie running back has averaged 6.9 fantasy points per game this year despite being the No. 2 guy in the backfield. Furthermore, Irving has scored 8.6 or more fantasy points twice this season, while White has hit that mark only once.
