Should I Drop Dalton Schultz? Fantasy Football Outlook

Dalton Schultz - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

It's been a disappointing start to the season for Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz, who has caught just seven passes for 48 yards through the first three games.

The addition of Stefon Diggs was always going to reshape this passing attack, but Schultz feels like he's barely part of it now.

Should fantasy managers drop Dalton Schultz ahead of Week 4?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

Should I Drop Dalton Schultz in Fantasy Football?

Last season, Dalton Schultz had a strong start to his time in Houston, catching 59 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns. He wasn't an elite tight end, but he was someone who fantasy managers without an elite tight end felt good about playing.

But 2024 has been a disaster, as he's averaging just 16.0 receiving yards per game. He's still on the field plenty, as he played 96% of the team's snaps in Week 3, but he isn't producing. In the loss to Minnesota, Schultz had two catches on five targets for 11 yards.

If tight end wasn't such a wasteland in 2024, Schultz would be an easy drop candidate. However, it's been nearly impossible to find consistent production at the position, so you might as well hang on to Schultz on your bench for at least a couple more weeks.

Who Should I Pickup in Week 4 Fantasy Football?

Looking for help at tight end this week? Check out Craig Rondinone's Week 4 tight end waiver wire pickups list for some ideas.

Among the options, Cole Kmet might be a wise call after he caught 10 passes in Week 3, finishing with 97 yards and a touchdown. He's a strong option to add off the wire if you either want to drop or bench Schultz for now.

One thing is for sure, though: there's no Texans tight ends on the waiver wire who are set to overtake Schultz any time soon, so no use looking at his teammates. None of them were targeted in Week 3 and Cade Stover was the only other tight end to see the field on offense.
