We only had a showdown last night. At least we get a proper three-game warm-up before a huge slate tomorrow. Man, I love college football! Are you with me?
First up, we have Stanford in the Loud House. Next up is a top-25 showdown in Lincoln with the Illini visiting. We end this out in Pullman with San Jose State heading up.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/20/24, locking at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.
DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks
John Mateer, Washington State ($9K)
John Mateer this Season:
712 Passing Yards, 7 TD, 2 Int, 10.2 Yards Per Attempt.
314 rushing yards, 8.1 Yards Per Attempt, 4 TD’s.
Future 1st round pick?

Mateer even ran for 62 yards on the vaunted Washington defense. If he can do that, he can run against anyone. Mateer's passing skills are solid, but we're using him for what he can do with his legs. 314 rushing yards in three games from a quarterback is a lot of free points.
Emmett Brown, San Jose State ($6.5K)
He will forever be the second-most famous Emmett Brown, but Christopher Lloyd doesn't have an arm like this Emmett Brown. Brown has stacked up 915 passing yards in three games, leading the Spartans to a 3-0 start. The Spartans are going to have to throw the ball to keep up with Washington State. Brown is way too cheap for my projections.
Also consider: Kyle McCord, Syracuse ($8.4K); Luke Altmyer, Illinois ($6.7K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs
LeQuint Allen, Syracuse ($7K)
Stanford has a lot of flaws this year, but its run defense has still been a strength. The only reason that I'll use Allen is because he is the only back on this slate that isn't mired in a timeshare. Allen is going to get somewhere around 20 touches. No other back on this slate will get close. Volume is king on small slates.
Dante Dowdell, Nebraska ($5.5K)
To paraphrase Tim Meadows in "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story"; "It's called the Nebraska backfield, and you don't want no part of this s—. It takes all your good running backs and turns them into bad ones. It's a nightmare." Who knew that Tim Meadows knew so much about football?
Nebraska uses three running backs religiously, and a fourth (Gabe Ervin Jr.) has started several games for the team. The fact is this is a small slate and Dowdell gets more carries than any of the other backs in this backfield. He's the best of a nightmare DFS situation.
Also consider: Wayshawn Parker, Washington State ($5.1K); Jabari Bates, San Jose State ($4.4K)
DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers
Nick Nash, San Jose State ($8.9K)
Nick Nash is a WR you should get familiar with after last Saturday

The guy caught 17 passes last week. That's more touches than any RB on this slate other than Allen. Don't overthink this one.
Oronde Gadsden II, Syracuse ($6.9K)
Gadsden is Kyle McCord's new best friend. The tight end has 13 receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns in two games. He remains the target hog on this team. That will continue until one receiver rises above the rest. Even then, that's not a given. Gadsden is a great receiver despite carrying the tight-end label.
Josh Meredith, Washington State ($5.3K)
This isn't the old Mike Leach Washington State teams, but they'll start throwing more once the competition gets tougher. Meredith was the leading receiver against Washington with seven receptions for 111 yards on seven targets. That kind of reliability makes him a favorite of Mateer.
Also consider: Elic Ayomanor, Stanford ($6.5K); Trebor Pena, Syracuse ($6.4K); Pat Bryant, Illinois ($6K); Ismael Cisse, Stanford ($4.8K)
DraftKings CFB Stacks
Syracuse
Part of the reason that the Stanford run defense has been good is that the pass defense is so bad. McCord, Gadsden, and Pena will all be part of my lineups. You can add Allen simply for the volume. Adding a guy like Zeed Haynes will set your stack apart a little.
Stanford
Lost in the great start of McCord and the Orange is how poorly the defense has played at times. Stanford is cheap and will help you fit anything else you want. Ashton Daniels is where you start and you have to run him with Ayomanor. Ismael Cisse sees a lot of targets. None of the backs look great, but Sedrick Irvin did have 92 yards receiving in Week 2.
Also consider: Washington State, San Jose State
