Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (ankle) had a promising first season in the NFL serving as the backup running back to Derrick Henry. With Henry's departure, Spears was set to have a bigger role this season after being mainly a passing down and 3rd down back in 2023.
That hasn't exactly materialized. The Titans signed veteran RB Tony Pollard who's taken most of the workload through two games, with Spears playing clear second fiddle. Now, Spears has appeared on the injury report as of Wednesday, September 18.
Is Tyjae Spears hurt or healthy now? Will Spears play in Week 3? Let's dive into his injury updates and fantasy football outlook.

Tyjae Spears Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Spears left the Week 2 game against the New York Jets with an ankle injury and did not return. While his fantasy managers may be concerned that his exit to the locker room could signify an extended absence, Spears is confident the injury isn't long-term.

This is good news for Spears managers. It's most likely that he suffered a mild low-ankle sprain or rolled ankle, which are relatively minor injuries. Many players don't miss any time after these types of injuries, as they may only need a few days to heal to the point the player can play again.
It may linger for a while, but it shouldn't affect his fantasy performance in a big way. Often minor injuries like these are more about pain tolerance. However, it is worth noting that Spears' biggest asset is his elusiveness, aided by sharp and fast cuts, so any lingering ankle aliment could have minor effects on his performance.

The Titans should make it a priority to make Spears in space a key component of the passing and rushing attack, and Spears's managers will hope Callahan sticks to his word, because for now, Spears isn't worth starting, and won't be as long as his workload remains so meager.
