BALLER MOVE: Start in Very Deep Leagues (16+ Teams)
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3/RB4
ANALYSIS: Tank Bigsby had an efficient start to his season in Week 1, shaking off the rust from his disappointing 2023 campaign and logging 73 rushing yards on 12 carries. Bigsby outgained starting running back Travis Etienne Jr. by 29 yards and was much more efficient. Etienne Jr. also lost a fumble. Bigsby impressed. It's possible he faced lighter boxes, but there are signs he's legit.
shocking how much better of a runner Tank Bigsby looked than Travis Etienne in Week 1
Tank created explosives. Forced missed tackles. Etienne bumped into his blockers. And then when he found an alley, he fumbled into the endzone.

By most metrics used to gauge running backs, Bigsby was just better than Etienne Jr., and the tape showed it. As is the case with most backfields, it's likely the Jaguars will still use a committee, though, and Etienne Jr. has a nice pass-catching upside. It would take many more performances like this for Bigsby to "take over" the backfield.
It's a common narrative in fantasy that many backfields are on the verge of being taken over, but the Jaguars have indicated for some time that they drafted Bigsby to take some of the load off Etienne Jr.'s shoulders, and the Jags are a better team when both are healthy.
In deeper leagues, Bigsby can be started at a FLEX spot, but he didn't record a target and doesn't have much pass-catching upside, so he doesn't have added PPR value. That upside would make him much more palatable as a startable player, but for now, in most leagues, he's just a bench stash.
