Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert was incredible for fantasy managers in 2023, finishing the season as the RB5 in PPR and RB2 in standard, with just two games under double-digit PPR points in 15 games played.
Mostert didn't get off to a hot start in 2024, scoring just 3.9 PPR points in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. However, his play in 2023 suggests he has something left in the tank.
Unfortunately, Mostert picked up an injury in that Sunday game, and now his status is in question. What does Mostert's situation look like heading into Thursday's game and what's his outlook like for the rest of the season? Let's dive in.

Will Raheem Mostert Play In Week 2?
UPDATE: Mostert has been ruled out with a chest injury. De'Von Achane will be a game-time decision with an ankle injury.
It's not known yet whether he will play in Week 2. It's difficult to say because the Dolphins play again on Thursday, so injuries that happen in Sunday games have less time to heal. Teams also have less time to evaluate the statuses of their players on short weeks.

It's not encouraging that Mostert has had two consecutive DNP (Did Not Practice) designations on the injury report. Mostert is a veteran, though, and is with the Dolphins for his third season, so it makes sense for them to be conservative with him. He's not starving for more reps and experience at this point in his career.
There's not much to go off yet. Mostert didn't play much in the game after his injury, but the Dolphins had running backs Jeff Wilson Jr. and De'Von Achane to lean on, so he may not have been crucial to the game plan.
Raheem Mostert Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook
While Mostert was electric in 2023, he's now 32 years old and will turn 33 in April. Given his age, it's likely the Dolphins don't want him to have a big workload. They also drafted his likely eventual replacement, Jaylen Wright, in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Mostert has an extensive injury history.
He's still capable of making great plays, but Miami's offensive line situation is deeply concerning. Run blocking is massively important to RB production, and the Dolphins lost center Connor Williams, their best run blocker, after the 2023 season. The Dolphins averaged just 3.2 yards per rush against the Jaguars.
In addition, Achane took the role of primary pass-catching RB, with seven receptions to Mostert's two. If run-blocking woes arise, Mostert could be in for a brutal season. It's too early to tell how the offensive line will play. Achane took the role of primary RB, though, and Mostert will likely see reduced work.

Mostert is fine where he was drafted. He may even outplay his deflated ADP. But the running back cliff hits fast, and the fall-offs can be spectacular. Mostert is a flex play with upside in PPR formats, but his ceiling is nowhere near where it was last season.
