Austin Cindric Could Actually Contend at Atlanta
3 months agoIt's not very often that we consider Austin Cindric as a legitimate threat to win a NASCAR Cup Series race, but when the series stops at a superspeedway track, the Team Penske driver has to enter the conversation. Cindric is one of the top drivers in the series when it comes to drafting tracks, and at Atlanta Motor Speedway specifically, he has the fifth-best average running position over the five races in the Next Gen era. As far as results in those races go, Cindric finished fourth here earlier this season and wound up between third and 12th in the previous three races as well. For this weekend's Quaker State 400 at Atlanta, Cindric qualified up in fifth-place, and while this definitely limits his Place Differential potential, it's worth noting that Cindric has led 42 laps over the last two Atlanta races. He's a very risky DFS play this weekend, but it could end up working out if Cindric could pull off a surprise victory on Sunday.
