Rachaad White To Lead RB Rotation
7 months agoWhen asked about his running back rotation Wednesday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles stated that Rachaad White would be given the first crack at touches in the backfield rotation. "I think it will be a game-by-game basis," said Bowles. "You normally go with the hot hand, but since nobody has played yet, obviously Rachaad [White] starts and then we'll kinda go from there and see how the other guys are used." It's an interesting statement by the Bucs' coach, as he may be hinting at more of a split in Tampa Bay's backfield than initially anticipated. White led all running backs in the NFL in snaps last season (861) and took on a workhorse role in his sophomore year. The third-year RB was one of the better pass-catching weapons out of the backfield in 2023 but did not exhibit nearly the same efficiency as a runner. While it's most likely just a head coach attempting to lessen a player's load, this is a situation to monitor, as White would lose value if backup Bucky Irving were to eat into his workload.

Rachaad White Avoidable For Wild-Card Round
3 months agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White has seen his role in the offense heavily decrease over the last few weeks. In fact, White didn't record a single touch during the regular season finale against the New Orleans Saints. Before that, White had seen a total of nine touches on the ground over his previous two games. Fellow back Bucky Irving has run away with the lead back job in Tampa Bay, which is bad news for White heading into Sunday's Wild-Card game against the Washington Commanders. It's unclear what kind of role White is going to have this weekend, but he might not play at all. It's possible that White becomes the receiving back while Irving does a majority of the rushing. However, DFS shouldn't trust White at all for this Wild Card round.

Rachaad White Sees No Work In Week 18
3 months agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White did not receive a touch in Sunday's 27-19 win over the New Orleans Saints. Woof. Despite playing 18 snaps (27%), the Arizona State product was not utilized. It's the second time in his career -- and first since Week 3 of his rookie season -- that he was active and did not get any work. Backfield mate Bucky Irving dominated touches, and even rookie back Sean Tucker garnered two carries over the third-year pro. It's a poor ending to the year for White, who now enters 2025, bolstering little more than handcuff appeal after finishing 2023 as the PPR RB4. He'll get a slightly tougher test in next weekend's Wild Card round against the visiting Washington Commanders. Still, he'll be tough to trust as a DFS option after goose-egging fantasy managers in the season finale.

Rachaad White Likely To Have Reduced Role
3 months agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White has seen his role on offense diminish over the last few weeks. In fact, White has only rushed the ball nine times over the last two games. Luckily for fantasy managers, White has remained involved in the passing attack with eight receptions for 54 yards over that span. Rookie back Bucky Irving has earned his way to the lead back job in Tampa Bay. That being said, White figures to be the backup going forward and probably the primary receiving back. Fantasy managers in high-PPR leagues could still get decent value out of White. Otherwise, White will be a shaky fantasy option for the Week 18 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Rachaad White Does Little In Victory
3 months agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White once again took a backseat to Bucky Irving in the backfield on Sunday. White rushed the ball six times for 30 yards while hauling in his lone target for four additional yards through the air. It was another dud from White who has become an afterthought with Irving having so much success lately. Irving recorded his third 100-plus yard performance during Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. The rookie back appears to have taken over as the full-time back in Tampa Bay, so White looks like he's just going to be the backup going forward. That being said, White won't have great streaming appeal for the Week 18 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
