Top-5 Hitting Prospects To Stash For Week 23 Fantasy Baseball Redraft Leagues (2024)

Coby Mayo - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Rookies

With MLB rosters set to expand on Sunday, now is an important time to take stock of which prospects would be worth stashing for fantasy baseball purposes down the stretch.

There are plenty of hitters currently in the minors who could get a shot at big league at-bats down the stretch, whether for a contending team or a team in rebuild mode.

Let's take a look at a few names who could make a significant impact the rest of the way in fantasy leagues.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and weekly lineup resources:

Jasson Dominguez - OF, New York Yankees

Dominguez has battled injuries for much of this season, but he has had a full month at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in August and is showing off his skill set with a .264/.316/.396 slash line with two homers, 12 RBI, and 10 stolen bases this month.

The power-speed combination is part of what makes "The Martian" such an intriguing prospect and has fantasy managers eagerly awaiting a potential September call-up.

The Yankees could give Dominguez an extended look in September with an eye toward the postseason if they seek a bit of an upgrade over what Alex Verdugo is currently providing them. Dominguez certainly has the potential to make a difference in fantasy leagues if given everyday at-bats.

Coby Mayo - 3B/1B, Baltimore Orioles

Mayo is still mashing at Triple-A since returning from a 1-for-17 trial run in the majors. He seems to have mastered Triple-A and hopefully for Orioles fans and potential fantasy managers, he has regained some confidence before another opportunity in September.

Not every prospect gets up to the major leagues and sets the world on fire. A reset at Norfolk may be just what Mayo needed. We saw what Jackson Holliday did with his second opportunity in the big leagues. Could Mayo be in store for a similar revival in September?

The power potential makes Mayo a must-stash for fantasy managers. It could pay off hugely just as it did for fantasy managers who hung on to Holliday in redraft leagues.

Deyvison De Los Santos - 3B/1B, Miami Marlins

De Los Santos has reached the 100+ RBI mark this season in the minors. He now has 35 homers and 105 RBI while hitting .308 for three different minor league teams this year. He should have already been in the big leagues with the Marlins, but they are likely manipulating his service team.

He should get his opportunity when rosters expand and is primed to take full advantage. Like Mayo, De Los Santos' power potential is off the charts and that should play for most fantasy managers.

Think of the boost in home runs and RBI that De Los Santos could provide given a month of everyday at-bats. Like with any prospect, there is no guarantee that his minor league numbers will translate to the big leagues, but that is a risk fantasy managers would be wise to take.

Dalton Rushing - C/OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

Since being promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Rushing has been patrolling the outfield and crushing baseballs. In 20 games with Oklahoma City, Rushing is hitting .324/.443/.592 with five homers and 15 RBI.

The switch to the outfield should not be overlooked for fantasy purposes. First off, Rushing will maintain catcher eligibility in fantasy leagues while potentially playing every day in the outfield for the Dodgers in the big leagues if he does get called up. Second, it could make him more likely for that call-up in the first place with Will Smith commanding a majority of the playing time at catcher.

Rushing is a premium prospect and is looking like a potential steal in two-catcher leagues during the final month of the season. It would be shrewd to hop on board now.

Matt Shaw - 3B/2B/SS, Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have some very good prospects currently at Triple-A Iowa, which is headlined by Shaw, the team's No. 2 overall prospect. While Owen Caissie has garnered some buzz for a potential promotion, Shaw's ability to play multiple infield positions could get him on a faster track to Chicago.

In 18 games with Iowa, the 22-year-old is hitting .254 with three homers, nine RBI, and three stolen bases. Shaw has a nice blend of power and speed that should carry over to the big leagues.

With Isaac Paredes and Michael Busch both struggling at the plate lately, there are infield at-bats to be had for the Cubs. Shaw has the prospect pedigree to fill that void with production over the final month of the season when fantasy managers might need it most.
