Corbin Carroll Homers Twice, Drives In Five Runs
3 months agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll continued his August resurgence in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Mets, blasting two home runs and collecting five RBI in the contest. The first home run was the solo variety, but the second was a go-ahead and eventual game-winning grand slam in the eighth inning off of the Mets' struggling closer, Edwin Diaz. It was the second consecutive game with a homer for Carroll, and he's now slashing .267/.333/.656 in August with nine home runs, 21 RBI, and 27 runs scored in 24 games. The 24-year-old is a big reason the Diamondbacks have been winning more games lately, with 15 of his 17 home runs coming in the last two months alone. If there is something fantasy managers can complain about it is that the reigning N.L. Rookie of the Year has stolen just three bases since the All-Star break and 21 on the season, on pace to drastically underproduce after swiping 54 bags last season. With his bat coming to life at the right time, however, managers shouldn't feel too disappointed in using such a high draft pick on him.
